Somewhere in Eastern Iceland
July 11th, 1919:
Our trio arrives in Iceland after a two day voyage from Germany:
Professor Beckett: "Ah, we're finally here! I give you: Iceland!"
Ms. Rommel: "Looks like a bunch of grass, rocks and weeds to me."
Professor Beckett: "There's no pleasing you, huh Miss Rommel?"
Ms. Rommel: "You just figured that out? Wow, you're dumber than you look!"
Dr. Omaha: "Ok, ok, let's stop this bickering please."
Professor Beckett: "Agreed, Dr. Omaha. This is the volcano I told you about a few days ago. My men have been hard at work, all day and all night, for three years.
Ms. Rommel: "Hard at work, huh?"
Professor Beckett: "Ahem!"
Mr. Oxford: "WHA? WHAT?"
Mr. Oxford: "Hey Kane! Long time no see, old chap!"
Professor Beckett: "How ya been, Oxford?"
Mr. Oxford: "Not bad! Not bad! Hey, I've been meaning to thank you for that cappuccino machine! It's been good to have a little taste of home."
Professor Beckett: "I thought you might like it. Mr. Oxford, I'd like to introduce Dr. Jacques Omaha and Miss Clarice Rommel. They will be joining me on the expedition."
Mr. Oxford: "Pleased to meet you Dr. Omaha, Miss Rommel."
Professor Beckett: "So, when did you finish up here exactly?"
Mr. Oxford: "Last week. We've installed some lanterns all the way to the volcano's conduit."
Dr. Omaha: "If I may interupt, how on Earth are we going to get, well, into the Earth?"
Mr. Oxford: "It's actually quite simple. You will enter through the base of the volcano here. From there, you will enter into the conduit, or the main 'spout', so to speak. One reason we chose this volcano for the quest is because of it's hollowed conduit. Though we are not sure why it is hollow...anyway, like I was saying, from there you will enter into one of the hundreds of branch pipes, which will lead you deeper and deeper into the Earth. Hopefully you will not get stuck in any sills, or chambers. If that is the case, simply back-track."
Dr. Omaha: "Why not enter into a vent? Why dig from the base; that certainly seems like more work!"
Professor Beckett: "It would be too dangerous to enter from one of the vents. If that were to happen, we would have to lower the Mole into the conduit, and run the risk of totally destroying it."
Mr. Oxford: "Speaking of the Mole, where is it?"
Professor Beckett: "It's about twenty yards over there. I'll go get it, then we can begin".
Mr. Oxford: "Good luck, old chap."
Professor Beckett: "Ok, let's go guys."
Miss Rommel: "It's so dark and gross in here!"
Professor Beckett: "That's what you signed up for. Shouldn't be long until we reach one of the chambers..."
The Diorama: Very rough around the edges, as this MOC serves almost as a "soundstage" for the minifigures. The lights are called "lifelites" (www.lifelites.com).
