Why?
Metal Gear Solid REX . From the popular Metal Gear Solid video game, I present Metal Gear REX in Lego form. Started in April 07, finished Nov. 07. . ***PLEASE CLICK HERE TO SEE VERSION 2, AND ALSO TO FIND INSTRUCTIONS!*** Ever since I played the game a few years ago, I wanted to build REX out of Lego. However it seemed impossible at the time, lacking the pieces and the know-how. I've seen other attempts of course, but there was one thing that bugged me about them; they couldn't stand up. If I couldn't make a REX that could stand up, then I'd feel like the MOC was a failure. However I started thinking about it again at the beginning of this year, and I started planning how I could do it. I realized it would be pretty easy if I used lots of SNOT to make the structure light and strong. The boxy shape of the game model itself made this easier, so mostly I tried to base the direction of the MOC on that. I'll be the first to admit its not perfect. There's lots of detail I sacrificed to keep it light and strong because I was determined to make REX stand. The end result is, I'm pretty proud of it overall, but I will probably keep tinkering with it off and on to try and make it better. All images available here: Brickshelf Gallery Now for the pics!
