Jethryn: The Strike of Lightning . My long awaited SelfMOC. . Previous Version Teaser Newer version What? I thought you were dead? Well, I'm not dead -- in fact, I'm just getting started! Very well then! I will crush you! Missed! As you can see, I've improved my speed... ...my armor... ...and my blade! Urgh! Augh! Oh Yuri! My waist! Do you concede the title of selfMOC and the name of Jethryn to me now? Fine... you win for now... but I plan to return for you later. Well, now that that's settled... Name: Jethryn Gender: Male Species: Unknown, presumed Matoran Location: Near Metru Nui Lifespan: Unknown Alignment: Aggresive Good Occupation: Leader of the Outcast Toa Element: Lightning Powers: Kanohi: None (conductor mask) Titles: The Strike of Lightning, The Outcast Jethryn is a bit of a mystery. Why he was banished from the Toa Order he still keeps a secret. Though he first spent his exile traveling throughout the Matoran Universe, he eventually decided that he could continue to fight for Mata Nui on his own. He returned to Metru Nui, where he began to gather a team from Toa and others who had been similarly outcast. Two of the earliest members of his team were Onadus and Ciaros. Although once a Toa and controlling the element of Lightning, Jethryn is nothing like most other Toa of Lightning. Most strikingly (no pun intended) is the fact that he is all black, with scattered white armor that replicates the sudden burst of white lightning in a dark storm, rather than mixed blue and white. He also considers himself male, whereas other Toa of Lightning are considered female. Jethryn says that he used the Kanohi Akari, Mask of Alternate Perspectives, during his Toa days. As leader of the outcast, he does not wear a Kanohi, in favor of a hood for stealth missions. His face is protected by a "conduit mask" that keeps his electrical energy from becoming unstable. He sometimes uses a Kanohi during battle, a condition that would better favor unstable electrical power. Fourth Wall Comment: Well, here he is, the V2 of my original selfMOC, Jethryn. I got to use some of the things I couldn't on the original Jethryn. The upper torso, minus chest plate. I had tried to make a brick-built hood for V1 but it didn't work out. So, my mind moved on to a way to use the Furno XL cape as a hood, by sandwiching it between two Technic beam elements. It worked out pretty well, but the cloth slips out some times. The new waist joint. My first waist joint, used on Ciel, was a ball-joint design. It worked for the lighter Ciel, but on the larger Ciaros I found it couldn't hold still under the pressure, and certainly couldn't hold the pressure for larger MOCs. So, I made a new design based off of Technic pins. His legs, which I designed first. As stated in the description, I wanted the white to be a "shocking" contrast from the black. The original model used silver, which didn't contrast as well, and since I was using non-custom limbs, I had to use dark blue since I was lacking in black. The lower leg is essentially the same as on Ciaros, but has more parts added to make it more stable. Upper leg minus armor. The sheath underneath the cape. The V1 version had a large stuck-out sheath that was most of the effort in the model. I had also tried to make a brick-built hood for V1 but it didn't work out. So, my mind moved on to a way to use the Furno XL cape as a hood, by sandwiching it between two Technic beam elements. It worked out pretty well, but the cloth slips out some times. This also allowed me to use the rest of the cape's length to make a new sheath. The arms don't have much to say. I used Onadus' upper arm design, and credit for the hands goes to Garrett A. With Onadus and Ciaros, his first two teammates. If you look closely, you may notice some differences… Unity! Duty! Destiny! Thanks to X~ for the photo editing. Well, that's it for Jethryn at the moment! Comments and critiques are welcome. (P.S. The other Jethryn is currently relegated to the position of Secondary SelfMOC. I have a new role for him now.)
