NCA Manta bomber . The NCA Manta bomber rains all manner of fury from the skies. It's shadow is the last you see before diving for cover or being blown to oblivion. . The Manta bomber is our latest in ground pounding power. While other nations have been pouring effort into new high tech fighters, the NCA has been pouring it’s efforts into a state of the art bomber that can rain complete destruction upon the ground and is next to untouchable in the air. This is our latest unit to assert NCA air dominance upon the ground. The Manta cockpit is capable of detaching and gliding to the ground. Control is highly limited but it is enough to keep it right side up. The Manta crew can then be recovered and live to fly another day. The Manta is piloted by a crew of 4: Pilot, Navigator/comms officer, Bombardier, and gunner. The gunner simply watches over the three AI controlled dual 20mm turrets that defend the aircraft in addition to the usual NCA defensive ALDS and other ECM systems on board, including the full monté of stealthing tech. The Manta reaches speeds unusually high for its body style courtesy of 4 ramjets. To be able to take off, the Manta’s outer two engines have electrically driven compressor stages with flat-edge variable pitch turbines that can rotate to serve as nothing more than intake grills when at higher speeds. These compressors allow two of the Manta’s four ramjets to function at low and zero speeds. The batteries that power the compressors are recharged by alternators connected to the main engines. The compressors help get the Manta up to the speed of sound before the airflow turns over the other two engines. The main engines are on the sides while the secondary engines, used only at high speed, are seated in the middle. The Manta carries 360 of our 500ib 2 ton yield microbombs or 240 of our variable yield bombs as well as any other bomb bay ordinance we have available to us. The Manta’s profile is built for good handling at high altitudes at its cruising speed: a little under mach 3.5. The Manta’s wings are reinforced to handle higher speeds but it is almost impossible for the manta to go any faster while laden. If the bomber is empty, it can break mach4, though this begins to push the airframe. The airframe can officially handle up to about mach 4.4 but some skilled NCA pilots have knocked on the hypersonic boundary with a Manta. Needless to say, this cannot be achieved for long, requires the nose to be down, compresses the airframe, and poses an extremely high risk of destroying the plane as one slight overcorrection while compressed will rip the plane to pieces. *4th wall* The Manta profile is just beautiful. If you look carefully, you can see the turret mounted below the two center engines. The Manta has 5 wing hardpoints not counting the wingtips. It can have pylons mounted and/or stealth ordinance. The Manta has three different variants we can easily convert it to. In addition the standard Manta, a quick change of body panels and some feature removals can make the Manta even more stealth that it already is. The curve in the top has been removed along with the turrets and wing hardpoints. The other variant requires removal of the bomb bay rotary system. It can hold just as much ordinance as the other two internally but instead of wheels, it has dividers. When removed, this allows the mounting of special weapons internally.
