Valkyrie Variable-geometry Unmanned Fighter . This is a 7th gen. fighter capable of either hypersonic speeds or lower speed ultra-maneuverability due to it's capability of having forward-swept wings. . While our existing Phoenix are still deemed to be highly useful, in the constantly evolving world or warfare new fighter designs are always being created by other countries, and we were feeling that we were losing our undisputed dominance of aerial combat in the face of several recent aircraft. Therefore, a new fighter was on the drawing board to let us retake our rightful position as masters of the skies. When we went about designing the Valkyrie, we wanted to come up with a revolutionary design featuring ideas never before seen. We had been noticing trends towards either slower but hyper-maneuverable forward swept wing aircraft or dart-like aircraft designed for hypersonic flight at the expense of dogfighting capability. We said: “why not have both?” and began to draw up plans for how it would both function and look. This concept was more complex than we had initially believed, as no easy way existed to make an aircraft that was capable of such a radical transformation mid-flight. One of our existing airframes was found suitable for use as a test bed for prototype wing designs, but little came from it. Our ally Tongaria was unconvinced such a design was possible, and to be honest our designers were close to giving up on the project. However, we eventually hit on a breakthrough design that both addressed height problems with the wings, the angles needed for the arc of the wing’s turn, and the means of keeping the wings enclosed inside the aircraft when not in use. The resulting aircraft: the Valkyrie. The Valkyrie is powered by an onboard fusion reactor, which can power all functions of the aircraft from its scramjet thrusters to the onboard point-defense lasers. Like all scramjet aircraft, a limited conventional engine based of a Traxxus design are also onboard to provide initial flight up to Mach 3. However, when the scramjets are activated, the Valkyrie is capable of hypersonic speeds and can stay in the air until the reactor is depleted or some vital internal component breaks. Speeds over Mach 3 are highly unsuggested when in a forward-swept wing configuration. To take advantage of the extreme speeds, airtime, and maneuverability, the Valkyrie is unmanned. The Valkyrie is built out of a composite composed of a mix of graphene, carbon nanotube, and a classified alloy. On top of this, RAM was applied and the entire surface was covered with active camouflage panels, which help regulate temperature and make it harder to see with the naked eye. Plasma stealth was not used due to the extreme heat it produces which makes it vulnerable to thermal detection. Various ECMs are featured to further its effectiveness. Like all other hypersonic aircraft, the Valkyrie is not stealthy at its full speed The Valkyrie is highly armed and is capable of combat in a wide variety of scenarios. The Valkyrie is only capable of carrying 8 internal missiles, which bucks the trend of other country’s recent designs which feature the ability to carry an incredibly large number of ordinances. In return though, the Valkyrie mounts two forward-facing laser emitters as well as a defensive rear-facing laser emitter, all of which are powered by the onboard reactor. These weapons are in fact the Valkyrie’s primary armament, and are capable of defensive tasks such as shooting down incoming missiles, and can also be used to engage enemy aircraft as well as even ground forces from dozens of miles away. The primary advantage of the laser over other armaments is the instant time on target. For maximum efficiency, Valkyrie’s are combined with AWACS or other spotting units whenever to discover the location of enemy targets, and then the Valkyrie will swoop in for the kill. Finally, the Valkyrie has a 15mm rapid-fire coilgun built into the nose for dogfighting.
