Defiance is raining death to your enemies from 3000 miles.
This . . . is Defiance.
Now onto what you really want, the technical garble. Building, rendering, and creating this post, have taken almost 3 days counting the interruption to render Navy’s J-12 pics for him. I hope you have enjoyed the Shock and Awe factor I created above. Now let’s get down to business.
The Defiance class supercarrier is longer than its predecessor, the Legacy. It racks in at 1720 feet long with 1350 feet of usable runway space. Its tri-hull design combined with its heavily armored hull (6 inches of NCA standard Chromali armor) is almost unphased by 3500ibs of explosives, which is larger than most torpedoes. It can remain perfectly level and stable even with one outer hull completely gone. They serve a dual function as both stabilizer and torpedo wall.
Most of the weapons systems on the Defiance have a defensive role. Many of them also serve a more offensive role too.
The NCA standard dual gauss CIWS which uses two 8-barrel .50 cal gauss miniguns uses our standard radar/ultrasonic hybrid targeting system for enhanced missile-shredding accuracy at close range. It has 28 of them.
Our ALDS emitters can fire at 25 pulses per second and, using a special ion cell capacitor, fire stronger half second pulses followed by a half second recharge. If enough emitters target the same railgun round, it will be reduced to soft, molten, silly putty. It has 27 of them.
The Defiance’s SAM turrets carry a double stacked tube holding 2 missiles for a total of 16 missiles per turret. It has 8 of them for 128 total missiles before a reload is required.
The Defiance’s four 3” dual coilgun accelerated cannons can hammer enemies from near 40 miles. They are very accurate and can hammer even smaller speed boats with precision accuracy.
The Defiance also has two dual longbarreled 5” coilgun accelerated cannons that can snipe down ships and parked aircraft from almost 50 miles.
The Defiance is armed with two triple 8” coilgun accelerated cannons that can critically damage light ships in 1 well aimed salvo at closer range.
The Defiance carries 48 VLMS (vertical launch missile system) tubes. It also carries 196 of our VLS Arrowhead missiles that allows it to fire up to 4 deadly missile storm attacks. The missile has two main modes of attack as described below:
Stealth attack: The missile launches using a small secondary charge, shooting it out of the tube and allowing fin deployment. It uses single burn jets in its nose to aim toward the enemy ship and then the main engine kicks in. The entire process takes only about a second and the missile never breaks 200 ft. It then engages the enemy ship at the waterline.
High altitude attack: The missile launches with its main engine and climbs at mach 5.5 to escape nearby CIWS and ALDS weapons. It reaches at least 10,000 feet for optimum attack speeds. It climbs at between 60 degrees and straight up. It dives towards the target at between 35 and 40 degrees. The apex is determined by computers as it flies. It can use laser target painting for enhanced accuracy.
The Defiance has 26 large missile tubes used for cruise missiles (like the Kinetic Kill missile) and ICBMs. This is our Punisher cluster cruise missile that is armed with 36 warheads. It has a maximum range of 1200 miles and can attack from above or below. It can also choose to not release the cluster munitions and just be one big missile.
The Defiance can also carry this Phoenix ICBM. It has truly global strike capabilities with a range of 3000 miles and the same cluster warhead canister at the top that the cruise missile does.
Some other notes about the Defiance:
IT cruises at almost 40 knots thanks to its tri-hull design
It carries up to 120 aircraft (big aircraft like Thunderhawks, Spitfires, Cobras and Skyraiders) & helicopters.
Gunnery command, navigation, and flight control are all doubled below the tower as bunkers using cameras. The tower can be cut in half and the Defiance would go on as if nothing happened.
The Defiance was originally planned as Legacy II but was changed after the epic battle a Legacy had with some Gaufranian dreadnoughts.
Hope you enjoyed this! The main pic took 5 1/2 hours to render so I will likely not be doing this again.
