The Chinese Dragonís Pearl . A Chinese legend and a new game: Help the dragon to get his pearl back. Crack the code of the oyster, if you win, the dragon comes alive! . Video When the dragon loses his pearl, a village is hit by an earthquake. An adventure starts for Chiwawa Girl. She tries to unite the dragon with his pearl in order to restore peace. The Dragon He looks scary! However, normally a Chinese dragon is a kind creature. It controls the forces of nature. As soon as the dragon is united with the pearl he comes alive. When inserting the pearl in the dragonís claw, a touch sensor activates the Mindstorms program and the dragon starts to walk. The dragon moves his right front leg up when the ultrasonic sensor (eyes) observe your hand. Also the jaw is actuated by a NXT motor and opens & closes automatically. Dragons make a waving movement with their body when they move. The Lego dragon also does this. The waves are made by segments going up en down after each other. This movement is done with a crankshaft system, driven by a XL-motor. The dragonís body and tail is made out of segments which can move independently from each other. Because of this the dragon can make turns in natural way (left photo). The dragon is riding on wheels driven by NXT motors. Walking is imitated by legs that follow cams which are fixed to the wheels (right photo). The Game Crack the color code to open the oyster and get the pearl. When you give the pearl to the dragon it starts to walk. Three different games can be selected. A simple game for beginners and kids of only 4 years up to a difficult game for experienced adults. The challenge is to watch the color signals from the NXT color sensors and to copy that code by placing the colored dice in the correct order. The copied code of the dice is red by the same NXT color sensors (left photo). After reading the code, the dice are automatically thrown back in the basket in order to start the next level of the game (right photo). The game console features many light effects including LED-lights in the dragon heads. After passing all tree levels of a game, the oyster opens up to show the pearl. A gear set, including a worm wheel driven by a NXT motor, is applied to open the shell (left photo). The pearl, a blue semi-transparent Bionicle Lego ball, illuminates spectacularly when lighten by a NXT color sensor (right photo). Enjoy the Chinese Dragonís Pearl , Anika & Arjen Vuurzoon.
