Hunt For "God" #23: False Friends . The outskirts of Le-Racta is a dangerous place for Matoran. They are constantly told by the Turaga and Toa that they should keep away from that area, for it is an area where certain dangerous criminals prefer to hide. In this case, a young Le-Matoran, innocently wandering the suburbs of Le-Racta, has found himself cornered by four Bohrok. . KEY:
linked statements will take you to where it happened. eg. "Montu Kills Les Tenebres" would take you to The Unwanted Hero Part 14
The Bohrok close in for the kill. Suddenly, a snap of twigs echoes in the run down street. The Bohrok turn, to face their opponent.
Standing before the bizzare automations are two Toa. The first Toa raises their hand; It is prostetic. It's dull metalic colours shine.
The Bohrok stop. They look upon the two Toa, and suddenly shrink down into a groveling position. The Toa look on, before advancing on the Matoran. The Matoran looks on, stunned. These single Toa seem to control four Bohrok. He wonders how powerful these Toa were.
Matoran: Thanks for that. That's some strange power you've got there. I'm grateful, but still, it's strange. Also, I didn't know there were still Toa out there with the Mata armour. We could really deal with some Toa like you.
There is silence. The Toa remain silent. Finally, the second Toa shows the Matoran their wrist; there is a gun attached. A hum can faintly be heard from the gun.
Matoran: Hey, What're you doing...?!
The end is quick.
The Toa turn and depart. The first 'Toa' geastures with his blackened arm. Immediately, the four Bohrok curl up into balls and follow the 'Toa' as they depart.
At another place, at another time...
Krode: Hey there.
Krode: Not much. You?
Parah: I'm just thinking.
Krode: What about?
Parah: That incident with that Voodoo character a couple of days ago.
Krode: Great, this again. I've told you lot, I do have clearance to do it. I wouldn't do it if i didn't!
Parah: So? You're given permission to kill, so that makes it okay? Violence isn't the only solution to everything!
Krode: It wouldn't've made a difference; If I didn't kill him then, all that would've happened is that he would've been taken to Daxia to have that guy, Dakatar, do it instead!
Parah: He's a Vortixx, unlike us, he is allowed to kill... hello, hello! What's going on here then?
Krode: What is it?
Parah: Something very, very suspicious... let's go and check it out!
Potu: ...and you say that they haven't moved at all in the last twenty four hours?
Worker 2: They haven't moved an inch, Potu. We've been taking turns to watch them. Nobody's reported any movement... Look! Toa!
Potu: It's okay, guys, I've got this.
Krode: Back off mate. Oi, you! What's going on here?
Worker 1: These Toa came in with four Bohrok, and just lined themselves up against the wall. They haven't moved an inch at all.
Worker 2: We've evacuated everyone from the workplace.
Parah: Good job boys. Strange... these guys' chests aren't moving... they aren't breathing! Their either dead, or...
Krode: I suggest the thing to do is to put these Bohrok out of action, incase they're just playing possum. One of you guys should take out their Kraana.
Worker 2: Yes sir!
Potu: Yeah... just what I was going to say.
Krode: Mate... shut up.
The worker does as he is told; he walks up to the Kohrak, and grabs it's protective shell. With great effort, he wrenches it open. He then grabs the Kraana inside. He bundles it in his arms, and moves on to the second Bohrok...
...as he begins, the blue Toa suddenly springs to life; they raise their wrist blaster at the Matoran, menacingly.
Blue Toa: Hostile activity detected! Termination will proceed!
Worker 2: Wha..?!
The blaster is fired, and as promised, the "termination" proceeds!
At this point, the red Toa springs to life. The two Toa advance, their guns raised at Parah. The Bohrok unfold, and they advance, including the disabled Kohrak.
Parah: That's impossible! How can that Bohrok function without it's Kraana?!
Krode: Well it is! So you might as well try to help me instead of gawping at it!
Meanwhile, at the Toa Racta's new hiding place...
Korapa: Guys! We got a call from Krode; there's trouble at Po-Racta! Come on!
Back in Po Racta...
Parah: Got one! But I can't hold both the blighters! You'll have to get the other one!
Krode: Don't fret mate, I got 'im!
The Toa raise their blasters, and fire. They know that the beams are not powerful enough to kill a full-sised Toa...
...But it still has the desired effect.
The Kohrak takes advantage of the situation, and breaks free of the unconcious Parah. It runs as fast as it can, but not fast enough to aviod being caught by Krode.
Red Toa: Let the Bohrok free. Faliure to comply will result in decimation.
Krode: Good luck with that mate. Might as well try to kill a Muaka with a toothpick...
...but I'll let them go. Besides, I need both my hands for what I'm about to do to you!
Red Toa: Halt! You shall not advance any further.
Krode: Yeah? And what would stop me?
Blue Toa: The life of your comrade.
Red Toa: Indeed. If you do not let us depart with your friend, then we shall insure his death. If you let us depart, we reasure that we shall not threaten the lives of any Matoran ever again.
Krode: That's a lie if I ever heard one.
Red Toa: You have no choice but to comply!
Krode considers the statistics. He could probably take down the blue Toa before they could pull the trigger. He finally decides that it is not worth the risk. He turns, letting the 'Toa' Depart with Parah.
Krode: Thanks guys. Your 'backup' was so helpful.
Benu: We just got here.
Korapa: What happened?
Galika: Where's Parah?
Krode: I'll talk about it later.
Unnoticed by the Toa, one Bohrok remains at it's position. Then slowly, subtly, the Bohrok begins to roll in persuit of the Toa.
Parah awakens. His back aches. He does not recognise the cold floor that he lays on.
He struggles to his feet. He then hears the exited chatter of a Bohrok. He realises that he is in a hostile environment. He turnes around.
He notices three of the four Bohrok that had attacked him earlier. He looks beyond them, and sees the two Toa standing motionless behind him. They stand by a horrific insectiod creature which looks completely alien to his eyes.
The insectoid chatters in an alien tounge. The red Toa steps forward.
Red Toa: Translation: "I am called Thornraxx. I am a scientist belonging the Cult of Thanatos. My gift to you; the Mata droids. They are your destruction!"
Parah: Droids, eh? I should have suspected! That would be why you guys weren't breathing. It also explains your beutiful prosthetic arm.
Thornraxx hisses and clicks.
Red Droid: Translation: "Resources are scarse, which makes repairs difficult."
Parah: Paint don't cost that much...
...Anyway, how do you get these Bohrok to work for you? and how can they survive without their Kraana?
Thornraxx mutters mockingly
Red Droid: Translation: "Are you such a fool that you cannot figure it out for yourself? They are also Droids. Their Kraana are merely replicas, to add to the realism!
...But now that is irrelevent. I shall send my Mata Droids to once and for all terminate your friends!"
Parah: What, just the two of your little pals?
Red Droid: Translation: "The two beside me are only the leaders. This is signified by their chestplates, along with their ability to talk. There are six more."
Parah: It doesn't make a difference whether there's two, eight or a hundred! We've been threatened before, and we're still standing!
Thornraxx laughes in a shrill unfamiliar voice. It then continues on it's rant.
Red Droid: Translation: "But this time, it's different. These other droids wear a certain disguise. Your allies will descover this only when it's too late. Come forth, Droids!"
The new droids do as they are told. Parah whirls around to behold them. His heart sinks. If they are as powerful as the people they are interpreting, then the others have no hope!
The Blue droid steps forward to greet its soldiers.
Blue Droid: You have your orders. Carry them out!
Back at the Toa Racta's new base in Onu-Racta
None of the Toa seem to notice the intruder hiding underneath fallen wreakage.
Onika: Little ones, we really need to know what happened back there.
Potu: We'll tell you.
...Last night, two Toa in "Mata armour" walked into a work area with four Bohrok. They propped themselves by a wall and just sat there. We evacuated the sight until there was just me, him and another worker. Today, the two Toa Racta showed up, and they told us to remove the Bohrok's Kraana. Our other worker removed a Kraana from a Bohrok. As soon as that happened, the Toa and Bohrok sprung to life and killed our other worker. We ran as fast as we could, as the Toa Racta battled the other Toa. I saw one of the Toa get shot in the back, and fell down. We then ran into you guys.
Benu: That's great! We still know absolutely nothing about the enemy!
Onika: Not quite; we know that our enemy will be in disguise. We also know to look out for any Toa in "Mata armour"
Krode: You seeing what I'm seeing?
Leka: I'm seeing, but believing is another matter! It's...
...The Toa Mata! They're coming to help us!
Korapa: I'm not sure. Look at the way they're walking. It looks almost... robotic! Brace yourself, folks! I think we just met the enemy!
