A Republic at War 16: A Delayed Arrival . . (Onderon, one week after the events of Chapter 17) (Jedi Master Boris Yakerno looked out across the vast jungle of his home-world of Onderon, the various sounds of the jungle having a calming affect upon the world) Basil- Well, if it isn't Onderon's hero himself! Master Boris it is good to see you! Boris- It's good to see you as well Basil, or should I say Grand Marshall Basil? Basil- Ah, Boris you know I have always been one for fancy titles...but not from a friend. Come let us walk. I see you have acquired a new costume, though it's still a bit shabby. Boris- Oh yes, after the incident on Kessel I decided it was finally time to replace my old robes. I haven't worn these since I became a Jedi Master you know. Basil- Indeed. At ease soldier. Speaking of which how is my uncle Duke Bartolo doing? Boris- Oh the war has taken it's toll on him I suppose. He told me to tell you he is old and that is all. He should be arriving with the others soon though. Basil- Oh Bartolo! Here we may talk inside. Basil- You know my friend, I can't quite explain it but...there has been a change in the air as of late. Boris- Have the beast riders started bathing then? That would be a drastic change in the air indeed. Basil- Ha! It is good to see you have not lost your humor Boris! No, but even the beasts seem calmer. I can't quite explain it but I think the war is going to end soon. Boris- And here I thought Bartolo was the Jedi in the family, but I confess that I sense something too. Onderon Guard- Sir! Come outside quick! Separatist ships have been spotted coming into orbit! Boris- Hmm, it seems that war isn't quite ready to end yet. (The two rush outside as Separatist ships fly in overhead, the Onderon military moving to engage them) Boris- Count Dooku! Dooku- Ah, Master Boris, Marshall Basil, how nice of you to see us. Basil- What are you doing here Count? I thought the King had made it clear the people of Onderon are not joining your alliance. Dooku- Indeed, if then your are not our allies then your are enemies of the Separatist Alliance and will be treated as such. Grievous- Let me kill them Count, I have not had a challenge in a long time. Dooku- Very well, show them how we treat enemies of the Confederacy. (The cyborg general activated his lightsabers, Boris dropping into a defensive position) Grievous- I have heard of your skill Master Boris, and I am eager to add your lightsaber to my collection. Boris- Really? I am flattered but you will have to beat me first General. (Grievous attacked first his blades crashing against Boris's saber) Grievous- I have trained at the feet of Count Dooku! How can you hope to defeat me? (The two break apart , their blades flashing in a flurry of light before crashing into each other again) Boris- You were trained by Dooku? I was as well, only your form is much sloppier than what I was taught. Perhaps standards have fallen, no? (Breaking away Boris blasts Grievous back with a force attack) Boris- And I fight with the power of the Force. Something that cannot be taught. Grievous- Grrr! You have no idea what you are dealing with Jedi! (Grievous's arms then detach, as he unleashed a flurry of four armed attacks against Boris) (Breaking Boris's defense Grievous pushed him back, launching him through the palace window) Basil- Boris! No! Grievous- I may not have the Force Jedi, but I am still more powerful than you! Grievous- Where is your hero of Onderon now? Basil- We will never surrender to the likes of you. Death first! Grievous- That can be arranged! (Suddenly two heavy chairs came flying out of the palace, smashing into Grievous) Grievous- Grrr! You Jedi don't know when to give up! (Straining Boris launched a heavy wooden table flying right at Grievous) Boris- No, but I do know when to fight back! (Grievous looked up as suddenly Republic ships appeared, turning the tide of the battle against the Separatists as a clone force charged into the fray) Captain Wire- There they are troops! Attack! Boris- Excellent timing captain. Wire- My pleasure sir! Dooku- Come General, we have more important targets to attend to. Grievous- Grrr, you win today Jedi, but I assure you your Republic is doomed! (The droids move to engage the clones as Dooku and Grievous retreat) General Duxos- Indeed Jedi, it seems once again that General Duxos will live to fight another day! Ha! Ha! (Basil quickly produced a blaster, shooting the Magnaguard in the head) Boris- I didn't realize Grand Marshalls still fought with real weapons. Basil- Oh, we still find use for them. Boris- Indeed. I can only wonder though why Count Dooku was in such a hurry to leave. (Suddenly Boris's comlink started beeping) (The device flashed to life showing the form of Master Ban Kazi) Boris- Master Ban Kazi where are you? Is everything all right? Ban- I'm afraid not Boris, our arrival may be a bit delayed, something bigger just came up. Boris- What? What is happening? Ban- The Separatists have attacked Coruscant.
