DEVICS-02 "Dyson" Space Capable Prototype . Dedicated Extra-Vehicular Infantry Combat System . PROLOGUE: Well, Satsu is finally back online, and so to celebrate, I felt a new mecha on LDD would be a sufficient offering. Hope you enjoy! In responce to the ESC's shifting focus from ground fighting to fleet actions, and contact with G.A.I.A, the ESC's combat research and development teams have developed a mecha to serve with the ESC Security Forces fleets. The most noteable change is the addition of a permanent dedicated flight drive system, powerful enough to sustain flight in atmosphere at 2Gs. It is also sufficient for use in orbital and fleet actions, but is not able to keep up with present ESC or G.A.I.A. fighters in terms of speed or manueverability. Additionally, the typical modular hardpoint system has been foregone in favor of increased integrity and durability. As such, multiple weapons systems have been fixed to the frame to allow the pilot a versatile selection of tactical options. Due to the Crystallic Resonance Powercells that are standard issue for ESC Security Forces, as with all ESC equipment, the DEVICS can operate indefinitely and is only limited by the need for maintenence and the pilot's needs. In possible future G.A.I.A. issue units, the DEVICS will be set up to draw power from the Dyson Spheres that their ships draw power from. mounted on each hip is a single cannon, linked directly to the pilot's os, giving them the option to provide fire with out the need to use the unit's hands. Mounted to the armor pauldrons are 8 missile tubes for single fire use. Also mounted in the head unit is a pair of low ammo machine guns for use against missiles and small low armor targets. And as before, there are a pair of beamsabres mounted in the elbows. Interestingly enough, though intended for use in space, the DEVICS prototype is equipped with an atmosphere armor generator, which gives the unit the capability of atmospheric re-entry. A pair of deploying thrusters fold from the back and the typical jumpjet system has been overhauled for sustained thrust. While the new line is intended for use in space, it can also serve as air support and even for ground fighting. While somewhat heavier than the light-weight S-19 Naginata, the balnace is well suited to power boosting, giving it an edge to manuvuering. However in terms of tactical use, the lack of modular hardpoints puts the new DEVICS line at a disadvantage. The only optional equipment is whatever the unit can carry with its hands. This reduces the necesary hangar space needed to house each unit. It also greatly simplifies the launch sequence for carrier launch. CULTURAL NOTE: Tactical thought has been changing within the ESC has slowly been changing since contact with G.A.I.A. was made. As such, newer developments have been made to be more specialized rather than general use. CREATOR'S NOTES: Glad to have Satsu back. VERY VERY GLAD. Almost completely reworked the Naginata for this one and I am very pleased. The engine system on the lower back was inspired by my recent watching "Muu-Luu Alternate: Total Eclipse". Hope you guys like it. And I have so much more to add in the next weeks, so stay tuned!
