MocOlympics-Round 1: The Pyromancer's Last Stand . .
All across the kingdom of Bardavve, demonic undead coalesce from the darkest shadows. One man, The Pyromancer, stands strong against the menace. Wielding a ring of fire, he patrolled the local villages, burning back any threat. Now he faces his greatest challenge yet, the terrible Shadow Strider. With the head of a hellish insect and a giant man-like body, Shadow Striders are the most dangerous of all undead. Even the flaming ring of The Pyromancer may fail to stop it, indeed, The Pyromancer won't likely leave with his life. No longer will Bardavve be safe, no town can withstand the might of the shadowspawn.
As you probably inferred from the title, this is my 2012 MocOlympics entry. I chose the category "Ring of Fire," and interpreted it as an actual ring that grants its wielder the ability to conjure and control flames. (Perhaps even form "rings" of fire...)
The Shadow Strider. This guy was a challenge, and while he's not made of Bionicle or technic pieces it's still close enough that I grew to respect the pose-able figure building genre more.
An overhead view. Last year I really stepped up my game for the first round, and I tried to do that again this year. At 48x64 studs this is my largest MOC yet, and it was a fun challenge to complete.
It's just not a LukeClarenceVan MOC without some rockwork.
Possessed by the Shadow Strider's evil aura, a horse is the first member of the monster's soon to be massive army. On the right there's a well.
The Pyromancer realizes that he can't win, but he's determined to do his best to at least harm the demon.
I rather like this house, it was a fun experimenting with the new profile bricks.
The evil horse again.
Another building didn't fare so well. Not only was the roof scorched, but the interior has caught fire. (Good old light bricks.)
A back view.
The final shot.
Thanks for stopping by, and best of luck to all my competitors!
