Frost Blaster (Working Nerf Gun) . . Hey Y'all, double feature this weekend! Two technic creations in one weekend! Buckle up, because this one is a little bit long, but worth your time. This is a working version of Matthew Oh's nerf gun. This gun has a very simple trigger and slide mech. The hardest part was adding it into Matt's 4 wide gun. Oh and whats up with the color scheme you might ask, well as you know, my guns have to be different, plus, I didn't have enough yellow, what with my CAT scraper being built. I like this color scheme better anyway.
I used the same slide mech that Matt used, and I just added a trigger mech, and a firing pin. I thought the slide "Bridge" might be a little flimsy, but it is surprisingly sturdy.
The actual slide rail on the top, and the large slide are a little less than prefect for efficiency, but I think if I either use some gun oil, or eliminate the top piece of the slide, it will work better. I left it on for now, so it looks more "authentic".
Cocked back, ready to fire. You may notice a couple of technic beams on the side, these were put there for a purpose. ;) I'll explain later.
The bore of the gun is designed to fit nerf bullets. They are more fun to shoot, and safer ;) They also shoot better than Lego bullets.
If you look in that slot, you will see those weird egg shaped black technic pieces, I have finally found a use for them.
Trigger pulled, the egg shaped pieces move down, and release the slide.
I made a simple set of peep sights for this gun. Just line the orange part up in between the grey pieces.
Feels good in your hand, feels even better with the um.. "mods" I made for it. (Keep looking, I'll get to them in a second :) )
The modified slide. I didn't have all the grey pieces for the slide, so I improvised. Also I added this nifty little handle for easy reloading.
Just pull back on this, and your good to go!
Like I said, it shoots nerf bullets.
Fits nice and snug!
Ready to fire. To make this gun shoot better, I doubled the red rubberbands, it shoots pretty good, but the slide starts to fall apart after 4-5 shots. I might revamp the slide so it works better.
Field stripped. It's very easy to strip down to this point.
This is my modified slide. I only had two of those gray pieces for the slide, so I improvised, and made my own with a slide plate. It works great for all you people that don't have those special pieces, it will work just fine.
The trigger mech, uses 3 levers, and those weird egg shaped pieces that have virtually no use.
Whats this? Oh yah, Here begins the fun stuff. This gun is great, but I got bored, so I made a few attachments for it. The first being a light.
This one... well, It may look like a menagerie of parts, but it's really a Laser sight. the red piece turns the switch on.
Now we're getting dangerous. Yep this gun needed a combat knife. It also has a compass which you can use while it is mounted to the gun.
The scope... yep a real scope. I made a mount rail similar to a Famas.
It's a Daisy ment for a bb gun, but it works nice for this.
Now this "pistol" is um a little heavy with all this on it, and it's hard to use a scope with out a steady rest, so I built a light weight stock for the gun. It works better than I thought it would. It looks pretty cool too.
All the attachments :D Let's put them on the gun!
First, the flash light, we want to do some night hunting.
Check to make sure it works, don't want to be left in the dark!
Next, I want to fire from the hip, and hit something. The laser sight is perfect for that.
Push that red button, and then what ever you put the red dot on, you will hit.
Uh-oh, our prey is getting away! better put on the scope so we can shoot farther!
As you can see, the gun is now very versatile, there are three optics on it. I designed it so that all three can be used. You can use the peep sights below the scope, or use the scope, or shoot from the hip with the laser sight.
Wow, it's hard to steady this gun and look down the scope, I have a fix for that.. Attach the stock!
Thats better, just snug this up against your shoulder, and put the cross hairs where you want them.
Pistol to sniper rifle in mere minutes. Amazing the versatility of this gun.
Looking through the scope, and all of the sudden, you find your self behind enemy lines. Better equip the combat knife. It has a compass built in so that we can find our way back. It can also be used as either a bayonet, or detaches quickly for a combat knife.
Now that is a GUN! Full attachments, its combat ready!
Light on.
Yep it defiantly feels better this way! Told you it was worth the time. The LDD has only the basic gun, no attachments, or attachments rails. If enough people want instructions for the attachments, I will make them. Thanks for looking! also another thanks to Matthew Oh.
