Balance of the Force Chapter 14: Attack on the Jedi Temple . Coruscant 2 days after the events of Chapter 13. Oblivious to the return of Darth Vulnero the Jedi attempt to maintain a sense of normalcy in the face of the coming darkness.... .
(The Jedi Temple, Coruscant the training room of Vince Yond'Ull)
Yoda- Good, good. Let the force flow. Concentrate, clear your mind, you must.
Vince- I'm trying...er...doing master.
(Suddenly Vince completely breaks his concentration and the disk drops to the floor, he grabs his head and writhes in pain)
Bartolo- Master Yoda- What's wrong with the-
Yoda- Sense it too I do. The dark side.
(Vince stops but is still visibly shaken)
Bartolo- Padawan what's the matter, what just happened.
Vince- It was...terrifying master...like a cold darkness...and it was coming right for me.
Bartolo- I must inform security, I don't like the looks of this at all.
Yoda- Tell the council I must, a grave new threat has come to the Republic.
(Korriban The recently-vacated Tomb of Darth Vulnero)
Kasamir- My lord, you summoned me?
Vulnero- Kasamir, tell me do you know the story of Darth Vulnero, my story?
Kasamir- Indeed, you were the most formidable Dark Jedi ever to live and single-handedly conquered the Republic in less than a year.
Vulnero- And, I was destroyed by a little Jedi whelp! A boy named Yond'Ull! And now his spawn plague me still! I sense that same presence that destroyed me! And I will destroy that boy, and then...nothing will stop me.
(The Jedi Temple Security Room)
Bartolo- Chief! Chief-
Desmond- Security Chief Desmond Ortu at your service, I assume this is about the disturbance.
Bartolo- Yes, how-
Desmond- I am a Jedi you will remember, and I must assure you that the Temple is secure as ever! Nothing's going to-
(He stops as an alarm sounds)
Bartolo- I hope this is a drill...
Desmond- We never hold drills, Duke, somehow something has invaded my Temple! Come on! The intruder's in the dormitories, we can cut him off there!
(Dormitory Halls)
Desmond- Captain what in the name of the Force is going on here?
Captain- Sir, we have an unidentified force user in the Temple, several Jedi have moved to stop him.
Bartolo- How did a Dark Jedi get in here?
(Before he can respond a Mon Calamari Jedi soars back into the hallway)
Desmond- What in the-
(Darth Vulnero follows dueling a Jedi)
(He force pushes the Jedi into the wall, knocking him unconscious as he deflects a Temple Guard's blast)
Vulnero- I don't have time for you Jedi weaklings!
Desmond- Back off Captain we'll handle this.
(Vulnero wastes no time attacking Desmond)
Vulnero- You wield a strange weapon Jedi, perhaps you will be more sporting than the rest!
Desmond- I was just thinking the same thing!
(Vulnero parries Desmond's strike as Bartolo charges)
(But Vulnero blocks the attack)
Bartolo- For a 1,00 year old Sith you aren't any better a duelist than the Sith today!
Vulnero- There are more powerful things than dueling, Jedi!
(Vulnero blasts the Jedi back)
Vulnero- For I am not a simple force-wielder, I have conquered the Force itself!
(Meanwhile in his dormitory Vince listens to the sound of battle growing steadily closer, suddenly the sound of a loud thunk of a body hitting the floor is heard)
(His door hisses open as a Sith emerges)
Vince- Who are you?
Sith- Oh, no one important.
(Suddenly Vince becomes disoriented and falls unconscious to the ground)
(Vulnero arrives in the room minuets later only to find a broken window and a pile of glass on the floor)
Vulnero- What?!! NO!!
(Later in Duke Bartolo's office)
Bartolo- He left just as suddenly as he came, a study of the archives indicates ancient Sith and Jedi often had the power to teleport themselves to areas of high force concentration.
Desmond- There wasn't anything we could do to stop him, we lost over 20 Temple Guards and Jedi, not to mention automated defenses!
Yoda- But a far greater loss has been inflicted, I fear. For the padawan Yond'Ull disappeared has he...
Bartolo- Then that's it, no one can stop him now...
Yoda- No, sense another I do...
