Ishii Castle . This project is dedicated to my new sister-in-law and my brother who live in Japan. I wanted to make something original with a Japanese theme. I started building and I think I got a bit carried away. The build is currently at about 30,000 bricks and I had to stop adding details because LDD kept crashing whenever I would try to save. That is why some parts (like the pathways and some of the landscaping) lack the same level of detail that I put into the buildings. . The keep was inspired by Azuma castle, which had a more dynamic look than most of the castles that I have seen. Here you can see one of my favorite parts about this build, the roofing technique. It is very brick intensive, but I think it looks really nice. With this top down view I will explain each building. The top left building is a Buddhist temple, the bottom left is the barracks, the top right is the garden, bottom right is the keep and the top center is the blacksmith. In the drill yard the daimyo and the abbot of the warrior monks of the monastery are directing a practice skirmish between members of the daimyo's body guard. The daimyo's daughter, lady Yuko, enjoys spending time in the garden beneath the cherry tree. It doesn't hurt that from that bench she has a good view of the blacksmith. This is the blacksmith. He enjoys making models of wagons so that he can make them more aerodynamic. I hadn't finished the detailing on the inside of the keep when the system started crashing. This is the second level where the kitchen and dining area for the daimyo is located. This level also has the food storage and the murder hole over the entrance. This is the third level where the daiymo's family lives. The top two levels would be for the daimyo's personal quarters and the bottom level never got detailed.
