Travis woke, his head throbbing. He groaned as he stood, "The plane must have crashed," he thought.
"Ahhhhhh!" Caleb yelled as he was dragged backward.
"It's Caleb, r-run!"
"What happened?" asked the crowd.
"I'm-I'm not sure!"
"We found a list from the man"-"Caleb, why does it put you as Caleb junior? Is your dad's name Caleb?"
"No- no it's Brian."
"We followed him this far, now what?"
"You left us! Then you came HERE? And you had the AUDACITY to bring ME here?"
"You will pay!"
The man flew at Beckmann as soon as he recovered.
The rain has stopped. John looked out from the ruins.
He suddenly grabbed the wall.
And vaulted over, landing with ease.
"You! You scared him away! I haven't seen my father in years! And what'd you do? You blasted flames at him! I don't know how you did it, but he's gone now!"
He threw Beckmann several yards forward.
He grabbed the side of platform and vaulted toward him.
He grabbed him by his gun holster and yanked him up.
John stared into Beckmann's eyes.
"John! Stop!" Caleb shouted!"
John looked over at him.
Then dropped Beckmann to the ground.
Soon they where back at the camp.
"Where have you been?" asked Travis.
There was no answer, so he went on, "We've been working pretty hard". In the distance was a dull chopping sound.
"Use the leverage and weight of the ax to do a lot of the chopping so that you get tired less quickly," instructed the Oklahoman lumberjack.
The man that they had captured was being guarded.
"Almost done!" said one of the girls as they cleared some of the last of the dead plants away.
"As I said. But we need to do something about... about the dead body." he said.
Travis, Caleb, Beckmann, and John stood around the body. "Well, we might as well move it, before it starts to stink," said Beckmann. It was rather strange that the body hadn't begun to smell already.
Caleb and Beckmann carried the man forward.
"One... Two... Three!"
They threw the man into the water.
The men lingered for a second. For no reason in particular.
The man suddenly emerged from the water. Everyone reeled back in surprise.
After they got over their shock, they helped him onto the land.
"What happened?" he asked.
Everyone stared at him. No one knew what to say.
*Chop* *Chop* *Chop*
"You guys ready to try?" the lumberjack asked as he dragged the detached tree away.
The french man pulled the ax out to give it a try.
Several hours later.
"Wow, well done boys!" the Oklahoman said as he admired their work. They had managed to clear quite a few trees.
"Quick quick! Someone come look!"
A man ran into the clearing.
Travis joined the men as they followed the man.
After a few minutes of running, they came into a clearing.
On the other side was a small shed.
"I couldn't get the door open," the man said, "but I figured Larry could use his ax to do it."
"Stand back boys!" Larry said as he swung the ax into the door.
Soon the door was chopped into pieces and placed out of the way.
Larry walked into the shed and flipped on the light.
"Wow-ee!" he said as he looked at the things in the shed. Six guns, a medical stretcher, and a computer.
They placed the things out in front of them.
The guns had no damage to them.
"We don't know who there belong to, but they mean two things. One, we are not alone, and two, there is obviously something to need guns for, in other words, this place may be more dangerous than we thought."
Soon the men where back at camp, everything they had found in their hands.
"Where in the world did you find this stuff?" asked John.
They set the stuff down for the men to look at.
They set the stuff up against the remainder of the plane.
Travis lead John and Beckmann to go to the place he had found the stuff.
As soon as they arrived, John recognized the place. He looked over at Beckmann but said nothing.
"There might be more supplies to find," Beckmann said, "Let's spread out and find them.
Soon they had found some.
John grabbed the underside of the roof the was set on the half destroyed building.
With impossible strength, he picked it up and moved it out of the way.
Travis looked at Beckmann as if to say, "Did you see that?" but said nothing.
There where several boxes of canned food and two more guns.
"Why did this building take less damage than the other buildings?" asked Travis.
"Well the roof appears to be fortified with-" he stopped talking.
Travis stood, waiting for him to finish talking. Nothing, just silence. Not the normal kind, but a different kind. He could literally HEAR the silence. There was no wind, no sound of anything but his own breathing. Everything had stopped.
He looked back at Beckmann, still in the same position as several seconds ago.
He got the feeling he was being watched, he turned around.
In front of him was a man that looked exactly like him, only his burns where healed.
Travis yelled and stepped back, surprised. He aimed the gun at the man.
"That wont work. Try it, I dare you."
Travis fired the weapon, but nothing came out.
He threw the gun down.
"Who are you?" asked Travis.
"You already know," said the man, "I am you, but I am from the future."
"You may not believe me, but you will when I show you."
He stepped forward and touched him on the shoulder.
There was a strange noise, almost like wind blowing in his ears, then it stopped. There was a thud in the background.
Travis looked out to see what was happening.
John was next to Beckmann. Beckmann lay on the ground.
"You! You scared him away! I haven't seen my father in years! And what'd you do? You blasted flames at him! I don't know how you did it, but he's gone now!" John shouted at the man.
He pulled the man back, then threw him.
He then followed him onto the platform.
He grabbed him by his gun holster. Caleb came running into the scene.
John yanked Beckmann upright.
"That is all you need to see here," the man said. "John is getting out of controle, his strength is making him too powerful, you must watch him with the eye of a hawk."
He touched his shoulder again.
There was the same wind-like noise, then they where somewhere else.
They where in the shed he had been in just hours ago.
But this was different. Caleb was standing on the platform.
A man was across the way, pointing a gun at him.
The man fired the gun.
The bullet took Caleb in the chest.
He landed on the ground, and died.
"You have to stop this." Travis' future self said. "It happened in just 5 days.
He touched his shoulder again.
The same noise filled his ears, and they appeared at the place they had started.
"Remember what I said," the other Travis said.
Then he disappeared.
"-some kind of metal, it appears that this building was of more importance than the others," Beckmann finished.
But Travis wasn't listening. He knew only one important thing. In five days Caleb would die. He couldn't let that happen.
To be continued....
