Super Heros! Green Lantern and the Joker! (Set Reviews) + UPDATES . Take a look at what I found while browsing Toys R Us! . First set review! Now, why on earth am I doing that...? Well, I'll tell you. I we were out and about and I worked my way into going to Toys R Us, just to browse the Christmas Eve wares, and behold what I spied! Two of the Super Hero Sets! Now, I was under the impression that HF 4.0s would come out waaaaaay before these, like in January or something, but no! Here they are! So, as my Christmas gift to you, here's a splendifferous sneak peek of the new line! Enjoy!! First, here are the boxes. Unlike the 4.0s, these are still in the boxes used in 2.0 Villans and 3.0 Heros. The backs show an alternative model for both of them. It also just so happens that these two sets make a big combiner! There's two, actually. One for Green Lantern... ...AND for Joker, but the quality of the both of them are pretty lame. Mostly just a bunch of pieces stacked on the original bodies. I didn't bother making them, but I did make the Alternate Models. Let's get on to building, shall we? Green Lantern: Green Lantern comes with 38 pieces, but only a few of them are new or worth mentioning. First is this new little Extender Clip, each set has two for the thighs. You can see here that it attaches to the skeleton piece for a bit of an extension. Should be a good part for MOCing. Here's proly my favorite part of the set: the mace. It's a really cool trans green with a four piece assembly, shown below. It also glows wonderfully under blacklight. And lastly the head. I took a few close-ups just to show how well-sculpted it is It's all the ABS plastic, no paint or decals. Pretty solid molding, I must say. BUT! You can notice that there is a scew on the conection joint! The same is true for Joker's head, too. It's really a two piece construction rather than one solid mold. Anywho, the final model looks like this, with only a few extra connectors and bits. Something about it looks a little out of proportion to me, but I think that it's fine as is... ...the Alternate Model, however, just looks lame. The shoulder armor is just moved to the front and his arms are stuck in that position, really. The posibility is really restricted here and it's not even really as aesthetic as the original model. The same can be said for Joker's Alt later on. Speaking of which... Now for the next one! HEE HEE HOO HOO! The Joker: Joker comes with waaay more parts than GL, a total of 57, of which there are quite a few really neat ones. First is ALL THE PURPLE!!! It's one of the rarest colors for BioMOCers and this set is loaded with it! Next is the chest piece. Honestly, this would proly be my favorite part if it wasn't for that dang flower decal. The abdominal detailing is so cool, but really, when it comes to MOCing, how often are you going to want a flower on your creation's chest? *Grumble Grumble...* There's a few trans pieces that come with Joker's gun, but the only two of real mention are the recolored engine piece from the HF 2.0s, now in trans orange, and the trans lime cog peice. This is really awesome for MOCing and general building; it's got three X holes and two O holes in a cross, as well as being TRANS LIME, it would make for a great heartlight. I think this is supposed to be like Joker's tie, or something. It's a recolored double-colored lightning bit. Cool? Absolutely. Uses? Not many; I could only think of one: Dr. Clash: "FEAR ME!! I am Doctor Clash! I shall turn your clothes complemetary colors with my mighty Purplorange powers!" Civillian: "Oh dear!! But that's soooo tackey!! NOOOOO!!!" Here's a really interesting piece! It's almost like a hip bone, or something, and could definitely be used for some great MOCing. And heres...Joker's head...Is it just me? Or are his eyes all...derpy? Anywho, the face itself is made from solid plastic, but the hair is the same kind of rubber as in Dr. Clashe's hair (The Exo Force kind). Honestly, it's a lot cooler than GL's head. My doodling has led to a new boot design. I just need a second Joker. Here's the original model, with a few clips and spikes left over. I must say, this one's quite fun to play with. I mean, just look at him! He's a dancing fool! And with those coat tails, he can pull off some moves. Like I said earlier, the Alternate Model isn't all that. You just switch some arm and leg armor and position the coat tails like so. The gun is also switched up a bit to have his tie on it. But the really tricky bit is that if you look at the box itself, like I did, you can't even make it properly! You can clearly see THREE (3) of the #6 Purple armor bits in the picture, whilst you only get TWO (2) in the set itself! It's maddening! All in all, the new Supers aren't that bad. They've got some cool new parts and are worth a few laughs and giggles, but when it comes down to it, the sets themselves are pretty lame. The builds are mediocore and the alternatives and combiners are just stupid looking for the most part. I'd say that if you're looking out for one of these sets, though, get Joker. He's waaaaay cooler and has many more rare and new parts. Just my two cents. UPDATES: First, I'd like to explain a few things: my inactivity and my new look to my pictures. The first is just a matter of inspiration, computer problems and TIME!! I had finals all last week, tests the week before, and no time at all, really. You'll notice that over the next week, Winter Break, a lot of my photos will be different than this one, it's because they were taken a long while ago before my new setup. Speaking of which, check it out! The black one is what I've used for all my pictures before I made that AWESOME TABLE in Woods class. You can see that it's at least twice as big, and I've made a simple setup for taking clear photos. It'll work for now, but I plan to get something bigger. In other news, my agenda for posting is stacked high, but a few priorities rank up there. First, the PokeMOC League entries; I've spent a good deal of time on this round, and I hope it'll turn out nice with the new setup. Second, TRATI; I've taken the story to a near stop as I just haven't been writing. I hope to change that over break, at least a bit, but it'll be a while before the next few chapters are up. Third, a few spare MOCs from a few weeks ago; I may or may not get thost posted... Anywho, Tell me what you think of my review! Do you want to get either set now? Tell me in the comments!
