Why?
Mitsubishi Ki-89 "Sharon" . A what-if light strategic long-range bomber. This plane never existed . Based on the German Messerschmitt Me-261 long range record-setter, the Project was bought by the japanese and scaled-down to the Mitsubishi Ki-89 (Allied reporting name: Sharon). The new plane was used as a light strategic long-range bomber, carrying two 250kg bombs in bombing missions to the West coast of the USA. Power came from two Daimler-Benz DB-606GD with two stage supercharger. Each engine drove a variable pitch propeller through a shared gearbox, generating 3000hp each. The plane was also heavily armed and could also be used as a long-range escort fighter-bomber or a high-altitude interceptor. Sometimes, it used a 57mm auto-cannon. There was also a torpedo-bomber version. Armament: - Four Type 5 30mm (1,2”) cannons; - One defensive 13,2mm (0,52”) type 3 heavy machine gun; Hope you like it Please comment or rate ^^ Eínon
