Nysta Class Alliance Carrier "Midnight to Dream" . A carrier designed long ago when I began my long running RolePlay with my Fiancee. Now seen here for the first time! .
Nysta Class Carriers were the backbone of the Old Alliance's fleet, providing the sheer numbers in starfighters that won the Systems War in the end. Long since the Old Allince went defunct, these ships are still highly praised and sought after through the centuries, due to their high-technology that made them so feared in their day.
These massive ships could easily carry 120 fighters, 36 bombers, numerous scout craft and shuttles. What the Nysta Class lacked in offensive capability was more than made up for in its carrying capacity.
Old Alliance ships used sophisticated Armor Tiling, armor plates that connected over the hull like a shell. The plates were easily removed and replaced for repairs, making battlefield repairs go much smoother and faster.
Here is a view of the bridge and the port observation deck. The Nysta Class Carriers did not mount any heavy weaponry, meaning it had to rely on escorts to provide protection against heavy ships. However, the Nysta Class were very well equipped to handle starfighters, having 64 inpendant launch tubes for anti-fighter missiles as well as a network of AA guns along the hull.
Nysta Class Carriers were powered by two massive Magnetically Channeled Reaction Drives. These drives sipped fuel and provided massive acceleration at full burst. The ship was relatively nimble due to an interior mounted network of stabilizer gyros that could rotate the ship.
FTL, or Stardrive, was achieved by generating a tachyon pulse and then aligning the ship with this pulse to create the effect of a railgun, which would propell the ship along it's path. Each pulse would be followed by another pulse until the intended destination was met, and then a single reverse pulse would bring the ship to a halt. Stardrive could reach average speed of 2.3 parsecs an hour, but the longer the jump, the faster the average.
Located on the dorsal section of the Nysta Class hul is a massive Comm relay that can also double as a Electronic Counter Measures array. Nystas served as the Comm center of the Old Alliance Fleets, allowing them to stay in touch, making these ships highly valuable on the battlefield.
Here we see a Nysta Class Carrier being hit by a large Beam Weapon. These were, however, minority weapons, as the weapon of choice during this era of time was a lethal psuedo-crystalline energy projectile weapon, commonly called an Effector. More will be discussed on the Effector weaponry on the next Old Alliance Update.
CREATOR'S NOTES
Well guys, this one brings back lots of pleasant memories. I've had the roleplay going for almost 6 years now, and I have enjoyed every minute of it. Hope you guys enjoyed it as much as I have!
Credits to Thomas Z for the idea of showing melting armor by coloring the bricks orange. Nice one!
There will be at least two more Old Alliance updates, so keep posted.
