BSG: The Return To New Caprica Part 3 . The Battlestar Galactica and Rebel Cylon Baseship in orbit around the planet New Caprica. .
Parrington Levopolis gently floats in a remote cove along the ocean. It's a place that is both familiar to him and foreign at the same time. As a young man, before his success as an inventor and ruthless business leader, he would often come to this place to think about his future.
But how he suddenly arrived here from the orbit of a distant planet known as New Caprica is unclear. The question is not nearly as important as the peaceful motion of the waves, and the warmth of the sunlight on his face.
He thinks back to some of his earliest memories, just after the War. Following the death of his parents, he had to fend for himself anyway he could.
His fishing skills sustained him, but his wits were his most valuable asset.
Grocer: "What ya catch today, Big Guy?"
Levopolis: "Hi, Mr. Petrunish. Just a catfish, but he should fry up real nice."
Petrunish: "G-day, Gentlemen."
Thug: "Whatever, old man."
Thug: "Whoa, check out that kid's fish!"
Levopolis, under his breath: "Loosers..."
Thug: "What was that?"
Levopolis: "I wasn't talking to you, bugger off!"
Thug: "Is this kid for real? Looks like we're having fish for lunch. Hand it over you little snot."
Sidekick: "This should be good..."
Grocer: "I'm not sure if that's such a wise idea, Mate..."
Levopolis: "I said bugger off!"
Sidekick: "Holy mother of...!"
Thug: "My eye! It's on the ground!"
Sidekick: "I'm not picking it up, Mate."
Levopolis: "And don't come back! This is MY neighborhood!"
Petrunish: "I warned them... Hey anytime you need any help, anything I can do, just let me know, right?"
Levopolis: "You know, Mr. P, I might just take you up on that, G-day!"
Galactica in orbit around New Caprica. The Raptors have returned, shaken by the sudden kidnapping of Levopolis.
CMDR L. Barto and LTCMDR Garry King proceed to the CIC to discuss the situation with CMDR Nempec and Col Watchko.
Nempec: "Okay, so what happened out there?"
Maverick: "Apparently Skipper, the thing was buried in the debris, fired up, and went right for Levopolis. Almost like it knew he was going to be there..."
Watchko: "If that isn't a load of crap, that Bones is full of it!"
King: "I don't think so, Colonel. It's not unreasonable for it to have monitored our communications, figured out it wanted a hostage, and made the most of an opportunity."
Mav: "And once it jumped, there's no way to track it, even the Cylons can't do that. Even if we trusted them, and as far as I'm concerned, I think we should call it quits with this Alliance thing..."
Nempec: "I see no evidence that they had any previous knowledge of the unknown hostiles, but I want some better answers. Comm, send a message to our Cylon companions that we request all information that they acquired during the battle and recon mission."
Communications Officer: "Sending it now, Sir..."
Watchko: "So, what if they blow us off? Pretend like they have no fraking idea what we're talking about?"
Nempec: "Mr. Shraga, set Condition One..."
Shraga: "Aye, Sir!"
Nempec: "Mav, prepare you team, I think it's time we paid our Chrome Plated pals over there a little visit."
Such vivid memories of something that happened so long ago do not remove him from the tranquil water. Feeling heavier and heavier, the sun begins to set, and no longer warms his face. He struggles to remember more of that day, and the significance of all the little details, Mr. Petrunish's store, the city, the anchor he used as a weapon.
"What owl?" he asks himself. "Downtown?" It made no sense to him what difference it made.
All he can feel now is the slow sinking beneath the surface as the sun continues to fade.
The serenity where he had started the journey through his memory is becoming less peaceful, less familiar, and more of a dark and alien environment. A place he wants to escape.
Voice: "The Subject is exhibiting an unpredicted reaction..."
Second Voice: "This was considered, but his understanding is the basis of the problem, not his compliance. He is unaware."
"A solution will be found..."
"So Say we all!"
