Lost in Space . For team Piece Out in the 2011 MOCathalon. . These were originally preliminary photos (hence the blurriness of some) and I was planning to add a bit more to the MOC, but the contest is ending a day earlier than I thought and I have no time left - there's no way we're even close to winning, but I wouldn't want what time/effort I did put into this to be completely wasted so I'll just put this up... Obligatory links: 2011 MOCathalon Group page Obligatory backstory: Space pilot astronaut guy blah blah blah ship crashes blah blah blah he seems to be on a world with bio-mechanical life forms et cetera et cetera isn't he fortunate this planet has a breathable atmosphere since his helmet isn't sealed despite the chances being somewhere around 1/1000000000 blah blah ok i'm done. And our stranded pilot discovers an oddly familiar creature... Some images focusing on the plants: In case it isn't already obvious, all of the plants (aside from the yellow and orange vines and the little red... things) were designed around a symmetrical pattern of 3, so that even though they are very different in color and appearance they share some structural similarity, as if they perhaps evolved from a common ancestor.
