Why?
Queen Victoria markets facade . My MOC is of the Queen Victoria Markets facade in Melbourne, Australia. It's not the full width of the facade, as i didn't have enough tan bricks for that, but i reckon i've included all the interesting bits. Think of it as the condensed version. :P I only included a small box around the open doorways to serve as an interior, from the back it's all a bit of a mess! xD . Every city has it's seedier side - graffiti, the homeless, vandalism and, of course, Rattus rattus. Here they get a look in on the market action. In the background you can see a local performing artist with a violin and his admiring audience. (Yes, you can tell from the minifigs that i don't build town stuff that often!) The markets open early with deliveries of all kinds of produce. Here a fishmonger makes his delivery. I'm not sure if the green fish will pass quality control, but caveat emptor as they say! ;) Bananas are very expensive at the moment due to devestating floods and cyclones in Queensland. Here a escapee from the zoo makes off with $10 worth. Edit: The Vic market facade redux! I recently re-built this model for Nathan Sawaya's "Art of the Brick" exhibition at Fed square in Melbourne. MUGS were invited to exhibit some Melbourne-themed MOCS to complement the show. :) My rebuild of the Market facade is slightly different from its previous incarnation: windows have been changed from white to trans-black, a red-brick wall and gate has been added to the left side, an interior has been added, and there are various changes in minifig personnel. Hopefully it all adds up to a nett improvement!
