Why?
Day Three: Exoskelettkleinpanzer Ausf-G 'Valkyrie' . This week: 7 variations on the Kleinpanzer frame. Number three is the improved Exoskelettkleinpanzer, introduced in May 1942. . A number of faults were found in the Ausf-A, including a lack of head protection, bullet traps in the shoulders and flanks, faulty attachment clips and unacceptably thin armour on the legs and rear. A number of new models were created, and while most of them were just misleading designations for minor updates, eventually they got correlated into the Ausf-G, which was the first Exoskelettkleinpanzer model to go into full production. Really, there's only so much to say about this one. It's the one that started it all, it's bright red, and it's resistant to anything less than an anti-tank rifle. Except on the back. The back is technically similarly armoured, but in practice it's got the engine there, which isn't protected at all. Also some minor ergonomic changes to make it gender-neutral, because it turns out that avoiding backlash for having a women-only military unit in the 1940s is rather difficult. More in the Kleinpanzer Fortnight series: Day One: AQ-6J Security Exoskeleton Day Two: The Cambridge Device Day Three: you're currently reading it. Day Four: Type VII battledress Day Five: Seeharnisch Day Six: Flashman Day Seven: Harpy Day Eight: Fenrisulfr Day Nine: DCA medical exoskeleton Day Ten: Model IID Murderbot Day Eleven: Space Marine armour Day Twelve: MRB-L Scythe Day Thirteen: CP-C riot armour Day Fourteen: Black Guard armour There's also a desktop background pic, in case anyone wants it: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/azazaza/Kleinpanzers/Daythree/tuesday.png
