MO R3 2C Baron Von Ben vs Giovanni Seynhaeve . M:Tron entry for MOC Olympics 2010, Round 3: Yeah baby! . Classic Space Early Ninties Cathegory! Baron Von Ben's M:Tron entry Back to the jungle! I choose M:Tron because it has my favourit colour scheme. Unfortunately I don’t own trans yellow and started my MOC’s by adding trans blue canopies. Later this week my cousin dropped in some trans yellows of his UFO sets, so credit goes to him for saving my, uhm…backdoor… I choose M:Tron because I could finally use them magnets again from my Exploriens history. Unfortunately I never had M:Tron, so you will not find any logo’s and no torso’s of that kind. I found the idea of a mining/transport space colony very inspiring. I choose M:Tron because red and black have the widest variety of bricks in my collection. However, I tried to stick as close to the original concept as possible. Making a suitable new series of the original sets was the attempt here people! To compensate to the limitations of all said before, I made six vehicles. Pictures are taken by Stijn Stragier, a man I hadn’t seen in years. He popped up at FB recently, and offered to take the pics. Very happy that I took the offer, and refresh our old friendship. You’re a cool dude, Stijn! Thanks again! And now: on with the show… The Receiver. A small vehicle for communication purposes only. The Heavy Copter. I know the original series has a helicopter so I had to try my own version. It has arms to guide the container below the Copter's belly. Of course, it is attached with a magnet! The cockpit interior. The Scanner. Another small vehicle for scanning surface and atmospheric readings. With a fork droid. The Freighter. Equipped with three conainers, each can be seperated by force of magnets. In comes the Heavy Copter for the task! The Collector. Nothing will ever beat the six wheeled behemoth in the original concept, but I'm proud about my three wheely crane car. The Sorter. An M:Tron mech. Wich what was really missing back in the nineties. It has shoulder mounted containers, each with an extending arm to select chrystals and sort them. Open canopy. If only I had this in trans yellow... It's smaller version, scouting the planet's surface. This was a real challenge and a lot of fun to do. Thanks for looking and please leave a comment!
