Broomstick Chase . This is my version of the broomstick chase from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. In the book Harry Potter must flee from Number 4 Privite Drive before he turns 17. Lord Voldemort and his Death Eaters are patroling the skies so 6 of Harry's friends must disguise themselves as Harry Potter and be decoys while Hagrid takes Harry to saftey on his flying motorcycle. . Here is a picture of everything I made from this scene. Some of the characters are based of their movie counterparts while others are how I imagined them from the books. Let's take a closer look at all of this. Here are Tonks an Ron on a broomstick. Lupin and George Mr. Weasely and Fred Mad-Eye Moody and Mundungus Here are Bill and Fleur on a Thesteral. The Thesteral was an interesting challange for me. I wanted to stick with Lego's design because I liked it so much, but I needed to fit two minifigs on each Thesteral. I finally decided to make reigns that would allow both minifigs to hold on. Since this was in LDD I don't know how it would have worked out in real life. I would probably test a few other peices too. Here are Kingsley and Hermione on a Thesteral. Same design here. Here is the evil Lord Voldemort. Nothing much here. I should have put a cape on him... Here is a Death Eater on a broomstick. I have a face printed on the back of the skeleton mask. If you were observant enough you would have noticed that all of the passengers of the broomsticks and thesterals were suppost to look like Harry Potter. I included these extera Harry heads so they can be switched out with the other minifigs. If this were a real Lego set then Harry's face would have been printed on the back of all the heads that needed it. Then all that would be needed would be extra Harry hair. Now this was the most fun part about designing this set: Hagrids motorcycle. Of course since LDD dosn't have a Hagrid minifig I had to use a substitute. Shame... I really liked how this motorcycle turned out. Since Hagrid is so big he wouldn't fit on a normal Lego motorcycle so I had to make this huge one for him. As you see there is even a place for his pink unbrella! Here is the other side with the sidecar. The sidecar is removeable. Here are Harry and Hedwig in the sidecar. I thought I should include Hedwig since this is her last scene before she dies. Here is the back. I made sure to include the exaust port so I could have the flames coming out. I would much rather have used this big Bionicle flame but LDD didn't have it :( Speaking of the exaust port I also made the brick wall that comes out of it. As you see it does indeed connect to the exaust port. I also really liked this design for a brick wall. I have never been able to do that with real Lego due to lack of parts. How'd you like to be the Death Eater smashing into that? And here is the third exaust port trap: the net. Since the net peice dosn't bend in LDD I didn't get to work out how I would attatch it to the motorcycle. Maybe I could just have left that out. I didn't catch and Death Eaters in the book anyway. Here are some shots of everything put together. _________________________________________________________________________________________ I hope you all liked what you saw. I have always thought this would make a good Lego set since the day I first read the book. I always wanted to build it in Lego but I didn't become a Harry Potter fan until after the last set was released in 2006. I am really looking forward to the new wave comming out this fall so I can build Harry Potter scenes with real Lego, but for the meantime I decided to build in LDD. I designed this like I would have designed a real Lego set but, sadly, Lego dosn't normally include this many minifigs in a Lego set. So I want you to decide which minifigs you would want the most if this was a real Lego set. Please comment and tell me which Broomstick duo and which Thesteral duo you would want the most if this were a real Lego set. In the meantime I'll try to put a poll up but I'm not sure if you can do that.
