The Third Shield . So I've had this idea for a while now... . ... And when I saw "a while", what I really mean is about a year. Anyway, I keep going through my minifigure accessories box, and I keep finding these round shield pieces. You know, the ones used for the old Vikings theme? And in my Technic box, I keep finding the same element, but with stickers from an old Technic theme. And I keep thinking, I need to get these into a MOC. Not having done so, I figured I should create a MOC solely dedicated to these pieces. Yeah, I know. Note: all projectile weapons used in this MOC come from Nannan Zhang's Guns Museum series. An overview of the entire vignette, if it even legally is a vignette. As you can see (through my crappy MOCing and photography skills, no less), there are three tiny vignettes, each showcasing it's own separate time period. From left to right, we have the Viking age, 2XXX, and 3XXX. In case you haven't been paying attention, the one thing these builds all share in common is: their protective gear. Or rather, shields. Starting from the ground up, we have the Viking age vignette. You will note my first ever attempt at forced perspective in the background of the vignette: the green, over-sized hill through the window...or lack of window, shall we say? Moving on, we have 2XXX, sponsoring our three Terran troops aboard an alien spacecraft, armed to the prime. As you can see, they also carry shields, only these are of a simple black ABS substance. And finally, a period in the year 3XXX, where humans have, for some ungodly reason, taken to the mountains, and now live there peacefully yet armed with lazer rifles... guess I should've worked a bit more on the storyline for this one, huh? And, in case you still haven't caught on with the theme yet, these lazer-wielding people also carry shields. I finally found a use for those old Technic disks! Yes! And now, behind the scenes action. Not really, just showing the vignette(s) minus the minifigures. First up, Viking age. Next, 2XXX age. Sorry about the instability with this photo. And finally, 3XXX age. That's all for now, I hope you enjoyed viewing this shrine dedicated to an otherwise utterly useless element. Don't quote me on that.
