Bobby's Hobbies . The Enterprisers, competing in the category "Cafe Corner" in the 2010 MOC Athalon. . Welcome ladies and gentlemen, boys and squirrels, to one of my three greatest creations of all time. Yes, I'm going to go out on a limb and say this is right up there with Blocktropolis and that cruise ship.
Of course, that's just my opinion, I'll leave the judges to form their own opinions.
Before this contest was started, I never thought I could do my own cafe corner style building, I've never owned an actual modular building set, so this was a challenge for me. Needless to say, I had to destroy my beloved beach house to build this, but I think it was well worth it.
Enough of my jibber-jabber, lets get on with it.
First, the exterior.
angled down view of the front.
Front view with slight side angle.
downward view to the street.
view from the street.
First floor.
Second floor. That sign would say "BOBBY'S HOBBIES" in bold red lettering, but I know the judges are purists against decalling, so I went against it.
Third floor.
Street action, we have a man walking his dog, and a customer heading into the store.
Street action, a different view.
Rear view, Kelso's favorite.
Another rear view, because Kelso might actually look at this page.
The loading dock, where a worker impatiently waits for a delivery.
A flower box, just to break up the yellow wall on the back. Apparently, Bobby likes flowers.
The roof.
A water barrel on the roof.
The air conditioning unit on the roof.
Yes, all floors separate.
Here is the first floor.
Now we have the interiors.
Lets head on inside, shall we?
The front of the first floor is the actual store. This is where Bobby sells all his hobby supplies to make his living.
Behind we have the storage room, where everything is kept until it is put on display. This room also houses the stairs to the second floor.
Bobby, behind the counter, helps out a woman with a purchase.
A little kid gazes with wonder at the more expensive items in the large glass case.
At the end of the day, bobby heads through the "Employees only" door at the back of the store to head into the storage room.
He heads up the stairs.
Now he arrives at the top of the stairs.
And onto the second floor.
He relaxes for awhile on the couch.
He heads to the kitchen to get something to eat.
After dinner, he heads upstairs to get a good night's sleep.
He walks past his usual reading area.
and begins to get ready for bed. No Phipson, you can't watch him get his pajamas on! Lets leave Bobby alone now, he's getting tired.
