GM02 - Heroes of Gala Magna . 17 MOCs: 6 Toas, 2 Titans, 1 Rahi, 5 Hoppers and 3 ThinMen: one Royal Rumble! My Bionicle spree during these holidays! Farewell Bionicle! . Group shot from top. (without extras)
These are the Heroes of Gala Magna, a world torn between power hungry warlords...
Nobody seems to care about its people, but for a handful of Toa teams, putting their lives on the line to at least reduce collateral damage when the Warlords decide to have a go at each other.
These two brothers are Rend, Toa of Blades and Bulkor, Toa of Titanium.
They grew together in the slums of the war-ridden city of Harassa, but their personalities came out very different: where Rend is a vengeful baXXXrd, Bulkor is a caring warrior who fights only to protect people (and his reckless older bro).
Rend is fast, tough, and covered in blades. His powers include to spawn swords from the ground and throw a current of small blades. Bulkor is a diehard overplated warrior with the power to project a force field that extends his shield's surface or his sword's reach.
Skrallest and Tar'Kuma are another set of brothers, although they were of noble family. Their city was completely destroyed by Marley and his Wailers, long before his defeat.
Unlike Rend and Bulkor, these brothers have very similar personalities: they are arrogant and competitive, and the go out of their way to prove they're better than each other, save fighting among themselves.
Skrallest is renowned for being among the greatest sorcerers of Gala Magna.
His Skrall Blades gather mystical power from the environment to be added to his own spells.
He may be not too effective in close combat (unless he casts a strengthening spell), but at mid range he has no equal.
Tar'Kuma was already the most feared warrior of his hometown, Jirei, when he was just a kid.
This was due to the strange mutation that made him part Rahi, giving him a terrifying combat transformation.
In this shape, he's faster and more lethal than Rend, but he can keep it only for a limited time.
He also has the weird ability to split, becoming Kuma, a very strong Toa, and Tar, and agile Rahi.
One of the only 2 survivors of the war against Marley, presented here with his brand new arm.
He lost his arm long ago, trying to use his disintegrating touch on a Toa of Mirrors, incident that cost him his voce, too.
This new arm opens up to reveal a long range weapon, and the new hand can also convey his disintegrating touch. His voice is slowly returning, but it's low and painful, so he's often called "Whisper".
And now, the WARLORDS!
Trika and the Hoppers
Trika is an ancient Makuta, mutated over the years into a mastodontic form.
His feet can crush Toas like toothpicks (do they have toothpicks there?), his claws can slash trough stone, and his 3 heads can divide his attention between multiple enemies. Incidentally, he also has a couple of cannons on his arms.
The figure is extremely poseable, with near human mobility. You can also flex the torso, and the collar bones to change the shoulder posture. It also flexes its toes :)
Trika is also my entry for the Bionicle Farewell Contest, in Bionicle Display.
The Hoppers are nearly mindless minions. Trika chose them for their natural malevolence.
Each of them holds a different kind of attack: bludge, ice, slash, fire, and... lead.
I posed them to show their jumping movement frame to frame :)
Antrex and the ThinMen
Antrex is another mutated Makuta, from a planet far away.
He grew in stature and might, and is now the most feared Warlord Mage among all. His 4 arms with retractile claws, and his Prayer of Death (a weapon made of Buzzworm teeth) make him a fierce opponent in close combat...
But thanks to the Prayer of Death shifting from a scimitar to a chakram, and his magical knowledge, he's jus as powerful in a ranged fight.
Due to his wings and magical power, Antrex can also fly short distances.
His magical might is so great, that the leftover power lights the exhausts on his back. When the flames disappear, it means he's either tired, or he's saving power for some HUGE effect.
The frame for Antrex's upper part is mostly the same of Trika's, granting near-human poseability.
The legs use an improved piston technique that allows perfectly stable digitigrade legs, capable of carrying a LOT of weight...
... and that can transform into regular legs.
The Thinmen are extremely agile, cunning vampires.
Their milky eyes detect life forms in a 360° field, their tentacles drain physical strength, and their sucker draws the very life out of their unfortunate victims.
Here we see Reddish excercise, Greenish meditate and Blueish fooling around.
Spare, Toa fo Sun, and Scrap, Fire Rahi. More an afterthought than a MOC, because I needed some "red shirts".
And now... The Battle of the Century!
Trika and Antrex decided to square it off near the town of Ilmar. Little they knew, that the Toa team lead by the veteran Dystor was already after Trika, and unaware of the showdown...
The result was a 3-way royal rumble! Enjoy the top wiew, and get ready for a step-by-step recount of this short moment, captured by yours truly :)
Bulkor is blocking a Hopper's attack, ready to counter with his humungous blade.
Trika is crushing Spare under his foot, ready to rip him to shreds, while another head is aiming the gun at Antrex.
Antrex is squeezing an unconcious Hopper between his left arms, while blocking Rend's thrust. Reddish the ThinMan was not so lucky.
Blueish is trying to entangle Skrallest to drain his strength, but he does not seem to pay any attention: for one, Dystor's got him covered, and he's also spotted a greater danger! He's casting a spell towards Trika because...
This sneaky son of a beach, hiding under Trika's shadow, is aiming for Rend's head!
Will Skrallest's spell hit in time to save his friend, who's too busy to notice the danger?
Dystor is defending from a Hopper, while getting ready to blow off Blueish's knees.
On a happier note, Greenish found himself a good meal :)
And it also seems that Tar'Kuma has no problems in dealing with minions.
So this is it: the great fight has begun! Who shall emerge victorious?
Which bring us to the End of year's Poll:
Which team is going to win, Toas, Trika and the Hoppers, or Antrex and the ThinMen?
Which Toa should I Titanize?
I hope you enjoyed the page: depending on how it goes, I might post more battles of Gala magna (Wich approx means "Great Milk" in Greek).
Comments are welcome, and... GOOD BYE, BIONICLE!
