Why?
Escort Class Starfighter . . This started out as an attempt to copy the cool-looking engines on Crises' Red Stone ship, and I just kind of ran with it as it gradually got sleeker. Not sure if I was subconsciously channeling an A-wing or not. This is my favorite moc I've made this year. It has everthing a good space moc should. It is super swooshable! Greebles! Big friggin' guns! Missles! Retractable landing gear! Lots of snot! Awesome detailed cockpit! Lots of dark red that was really expensive! (even matches the SP III minifigs, was a happy accident) There's only two small things I'm not happy with. 1 - The landing gear are a little stiff and come apart when you try to open/close them. But putting them in at all was an afterthought, so I was more concerned with making them look good and fit into the small space I was able to make for them than making them super-playable. 2 - The thruster nozzles swivel slightly. Four of these would fix it, but I don't have any yet. MLCAD file has usable directions, but you may have to download the unofficial parts pack, I'm not sure. There are one or two places where it's a little flimsy during the build, but once done it is very solid. If you want to play a game, see if you can locate all the places in the pics where I was too dumb to order the proper quantity of parts. There are 6. ~Approx. 690 parts.
