Why?
Skyfarm . A model of what I hope will someday be the future of society. Farming is no longer done in fields, but instead in skyscrapers, where the sun always shines and the crops never die. . Behind the farm, you can see the terraced design used to give the maximum amount of light possible. Also, every acre in the farm is equivalent to about 10 acres in a conventional field, and the food is grown through both hydro and aeroponic techniques. The farm is almost entirely self sufficient, with rainwater collected in a large tank in the top of the tower, and with solar cells and wind turbines supplying power. The remaining resources are acquired through the grid, but it is a mere fraction. Roads and cars are non-existent, with the majority of transport done by monorail. However, for those who want a more personal form of transport, smaller vehicles like bicycles and segways are still allowed. Surrounding the farm is a series of parks and natural areas, since with the ban on roads and conventional farms, and with monorails taking up only a fraction of the land used by roads, the land once again belongs to mother nature. To learn more about this preposition, which is totally possible with modern technology I might add, go here.
