Why?
Bringing the Daylight to daylight . Restoration of SP Daylight car . This is a storyboard documenting the finding and resoration of a Southern Pacific Daylight car.It is to be used on the LC&W for special excursions and buisness trips. Originally found east of town overgrown with brush and plant life, LC&W took it upon themselves to retrieve and restore the car. Rented cranes and a semi flatbed were rented to help haul the car to the round house. With the car secure it was ready to be moved to the local LC&W roundhouse. The above and below photos show the car arriving at the yard and being moved on to temporary trucks to move it into the roundhouse for repairs. The car is slowly moved into the round house for repairs that will make it ready for every day use once again The car emerged from its total restoration ready to roll. The work included a new frame and paint job, new windows, replacing and rehinging the doors, a new roof, new trucks and pneumatic braking system, among many other small repairs.
