About this creation
Post Apoc Destroyer DUV

Max Speed: 95 MPH over even terrain

Weight: 45 Tons

Powerplant: V4 Turbo Charged Super Cylinder Diesel Engine

This is my first intentionally Post Apocalyptic MOC

As everyone knows post WWIII saw the rise of bandits that seize what they need from local innocents just trying to eke out a living in the aftermath.

After seeing many of his fellow citizens and being robbed himself, Dyrg Robinson decided to confront the local Desert Raiders. However when he found their hideout he saw that it was too heavily built to force entry with conventional means and after trying to bait them into coming out and fighting (which they didnít even respond to) he decided to combine several vehicles which he had salvaged in the previous months to create a device purpose built to annihilate the Raiders The result is the Destroyer DUV.

The DUV draws from several vehicles. The main body is that of a military Humvee (albeit modified and very, very heavily reinforced). The frame and wheels of a dump truck (think like the medium sized yellow ones in strip mines, not the gigantic ones). And last but not least: a trimmed down (and again reinforced) version a bulldozer scoop. Custom features include eight inch thick depleted uranium/steel/Kevlar doors which are hydraulically powered to roll the vehicle upright should it flip over, six inch thick bullet glass, and rear outboard cargo compartments.

After unsuccessfully trying to incorporate a powerful stock engine from a bulldozer to provide massive torque with high speed, Dyrg ended with an essentially custom built powerplant. Instead of using many small pistons and cylinders, the V4 uses four gigantic pistons and cylinders (each the size of a large dinner plate) to provide the requisite torque for the ability to push or pull down large sections of the thickest walls. Because the cylinders provide so much power, moving quickly (up to 95 miles per hour) especially over the even terrain of the desert (despite the vehicleís weight) is easy work.

If for some reason the vehicle canít penetrate something; the cargo compartment carries several tools for dismantling or destroying the object. These tools include saws capable of cutting through steel reinforced concrete, steel doors or what have you; drills, a jack hammer, and my favorite: 5 gallon steel drums filled to the brim with shaped charged C4 plastic explosives (if the DUV canít do the job Iím pretty sure these will!).

Inside Despite the one man construction, the Destroyer can carry up to three other people.

Because of the massive weight, spring steel suspension wasnít a viable option. Instead the DUV utilizes a combination of hydraulic and the torsion bar suspension from an M1A2 Abrams tank resulting in a very smooth ride, and the ability to mount obstacles up to five feet high.

The last features (that Iíve saved for last) are the blades on the front. These custom built, dull edged, devices as well as the whole vehicle are purpose built for one thing: to ram the living crap out of steel reinforced concrete walls (i.e. the walls for the Desert Raidersí hideout) up to eight feet thick! The metals which make them up are a secret combination (amounts and forging techniques) of tungsten steel, depleted uranium, and diamond edging devised by Dyrg himself.

After demolishing the Desert Raiders Hideout (with them still in it), Dyrg Robinson now roams from town to town building a reputation and the "Bandits' Bane" eliminating local groups (for a small fee of course, usually fuel replacement materials and some currency).

The whole idea behind this is to be like a 45 ton wrecking ball on wheels.
