Northrop Grumman A-61b Peregrine
VTOL Orbital drop attack ship.
About this creation
The Northrop Grumman A-61b Peregrine is a single seat VTOL OrDASh (Vertical Takeoff/Landing Orbital Drop Attack Ship) designed for the USCMF in the year 2063. Deployed from orbital strike platforms or large space naval vessels, it was designed to drop in and neutralize anti air batteries for the larger dropships and assault forces to move in and execute objectives. It was soon realized that additional strike forces were not necessary as the Peregrine could perform these tasks on its own and is now used for ground strike operations and anti-mech duties. Primary armorment
consists of two 50mm high yield depleted uranium railguns that can angle down 30 degrees for higher accuracy, four Hedgehog 40mm air-to-ground rocket propelled grenade launch tubes just inboard of the engines, and a chin mounted Mjolnir 20mm caseless MG which can rotate back 160 degrees for aiming and to relieve stress on the barrel during drops.
An onboard AI system called GRETA (General RADAR Elimination and Targeting Assistant) monitors up to 200 radar signatures as well as airframe integrity, subsystem status, and weapons systems.
The A-61 is named for the fastest animal in the world, the Peregrine Falcon, which can reach speeds of 273mph in a dive. Its silhouette also slightly resembles a diving falcon with its wings tucked back.
Lightly based off of the pelican dropship and B Gillmets
Vulture.

Because air filled tires tended to burst on re-entry, landing legs are used on the front and re-enforced feet on the outer edge of the rear engine housings.

Oversized engine intakes allow for larger volumes of air to be compressed for more thrust. Also, intakes are placed on the top of the body to prevent artilery and other foreign bodies from being ingested into the heard of the engines.

Tail radar jamer just above countermeasure suite.

All drop dive flaps extended.

Landing legs would not be extended this far for drops. Flaps aft of the Hedgehog tubes fold up for normal flight. The Mjolnir can also be seen folded back for drops.

Mjolnir caseless MG.

Cockpit.

Countermeasures suite. Tubes for chaf, flare, and RADAR canisters.

Belly dive flaps extended as well as partial landing leg extention for additional drag.

Guns angled down.

Wow, this is the essence of cool :) What stands out to me most is the time you must have put into imagining out each detail and ability for the air-craft. The vehicle profile really rounds out its character and makes it extra unique. Good MOC!

This is another great MOC! I have to say I like your rear engines better than mine because they're a lot more detailed. Very well done!
