The Siege of Arsing
War is not nice. And neither is photographing a diorama.
About this creation
This is perhaps the most frustrating MOC I have ever built. My problems may not be as those of great builders like Nathan Todd and Mark Kelso whose creations stretch the limits of the human imagination, but this one was tough.

When I started out, I was shootin' for something akin to a bley wall on a 32x32 board being attacked by trolls, but it grew for a very long week into what you see now. Once I realized it was growing into something that I had never built before, I started looking around for inspiration. That wasn't hard to find. After drooling over creations by Sly Owl, Darkspawn, Brian Hanley, Rocko, Thomas Wunz, and others, I set to work on getting this to the quality of castle creations you can find on The Brothers Brick.

I'm not sure if it's exactly the quality of creations you find on TBB, but I think it turned out pretty good for a wannabe castle siege.

As you can see, the trolls are attacking my blocky keep called Arsing...a piece of gum goes to anyone who can guess who I got my inspiration from for the catapult.

You can also see (hopefully) that I love my towers! =)

The taller tower was a huge pain in the neck, and I have to give some credit to Caleb Blanchet for helping me through its construction. I think it turned out pretty good, but next time I'm gonna try to make the top all light bley. Looks neater.

More tower pics...

And the back!! Oh the back...

"I'm holding 'em out, guys, I'm holding 'em out!"

Interior shot...

Sorry about the poor picture quality at times; I probably had five different photography studios all over my house at different times this week, trying to get "the shot".

So I finally got a bunch of OK pictures...and now YOU get to see all of them! =)

"I gotta get in!!"

(Credits for that little troll dude goes to Caleb Blanchet's brother)

More pictures!!!!

I used to make castle battles all the time about a year ago, but for some reason I got too cool for 'em and stopped. I finally realized that I am not the master, and made yet another siege.

You ready to be done yet? I'm not, 'cuz I still have to show you the pictures WITHOUT minifigs!!

NOW we're getting to the good pictures...

The base was one of the more time consuming sections of this MOC, as it is completely solid. Who knows how many layers of solid plates.

Maybe all those Star Wars sets were good for something...

After Kingsbrook tower, I have had an abundance of green plates for grass. This MOC was fun to use a bunch of those, while still toying with tan paths and rock faces.

Don't you love it when a MOC just flows together like you had nothing to do with it? Like, BOOM it's done! I wish that happened with this one...

A white sheet draped over my table was one of my many photography studios. At least it got me to clean my workspace.

See? All clean!

I apologize for so many pictures and so little commentary, I just kinda let the MOC speak for itself. So...SPEAK MOC, SPEAK!!!

Well, I guess that's it! Thanks for looking. =)

Great job, I love the tower, that looks really good. The pathway up to the castle looks great, I'm not sure why but I love the look of the tan bricks next to the bley bricks that are on the light grey bricks. I really like that part, and the interior is great. I love the rooms and all the action. Some of those people look really scared! Another thing I really liked is the smootheness of the interior. Again, excellent job JD.

Quoting Lord Lego 436 But hey, I'm trying to get onto the brothers as well...
Thanks for the tips, but I've already been on TBB, so now I'm just trying to keep that skill level. =) Getting on there again isn't my goal.

Quoting Chris Phipson Yeah, the fire extinguisher gave me a good chuckle too. I was like, what the heck does he need THAT for?
Good thing you guys couldn't see the giant water heater just out of view...My room and this "Lego/work/tool room" used to be the garage, so you'll find a lot of stuff like that around my collection. =)

Yeah, the fire extinguisher gave me a good chuckle too. I was like, what the heck does he need THAT for? And that little troll on the side. I thought he was taking a potty break until you zoomed in on him. Great build overall and for the record... yes, it's worthy of Brothers Brick. ~ chris.

Quoting Ultramarine Skiver: One thing, though, the strategic vulnerability of this fortress is rather evident: the well being outside the walls! I notice things like that, anyway good job again!
Yeah, I noticed that after I was done, but was too lazy to move it. =) Thanks for the input!

Quoting Shannon Young: I have all my light gray bricks available right now, not locked up in other MOCs, for the first time in like, ever. I've been wondering, do I use those grays to attempt a SHIP, or a good sized castle? I've been leaning towards SHIP, but some of your recent creations are pushing me towards castle. Thanks for making my choice a more difficult one.
You're very welcome! Personally, I would like to see some large scale castle stuff from you, but I've been leaning towards making a SHIP myself, so I don't blame ya if that's where you go. =)

In my opinion this is your best creation yet. Though I would prefer the bad guys to be other knights and not trolls though I guess trolls are Kind of your thing. Great work on the landscape and where are the trolls catapulting over the wall? ;)

Nice job LUSEr! The effect you mad for the sloed corner is nice. PS: Today, for no particular reason, A special ed kid flipped my sister off and punched her! How random! LOL! (I wouldn't make fun of the guy, but the situation itself is so random!)

The result of all this work is just awesome. The exterior is superb, but what impress me the most is the interior, and the quality of the pics. It's really one of your best MOCs !
