This year we decided on a Lego tree instead of a real one with Lego decorations. The main body is made of Duplo bricks, the decorations are regular Lego creations.
Trying to figure out the basic design.
Then we added some presents
We also made a center piece for Christmas dinner.
Some shots of the completed tree
We glued the Duplo bricks together with a water based glue. When the holiday was over, we put the tree in the shower and cleaned off the bricks. Yes, it was a pain and took about 2 days to get all the bricks clean, but we now have a very large green castle that used to be a tree.
What a great alternative to a real or artificial tree. Then to find out it will be growing it gave the kid in your house great joy I bet even if the kid is YOU!
Say John give us an update.
Heh. Unfortunately, we've about bought out all the green Duplo bricks available on BrickLink. I think we had just shy of 700 bricks total in the tree. We're going to keep stocking up for next year to fill in the blank spots.
Good luck with your tree!
Holy crap! That thing is huge! In fact I thought it was originally photoshop or something! I might have to dig the duplos out of the attic and try something like that myself. Great job!
