This is just "phase one" of a tower i'm building for a Tower Contest at http://www.mocpages.com/group.php/225
About this creation
This is a Lego Tower i worked on overnight after recieving an invitation for a LEGO TALLEST TOWER CONTEST ... it ain't pretty, but as the rules said - it doesn't have to be (lol).
At first, i was alittle stumped as i began to build, because i had never made a tower before ... but after experimenting with some ideas, i eventually combined several techniques.
After i was done, it measured 10 ft. 2 inches tall, but i had to remove a few Lego axle segments from the antenna, because it was pressing against the 10 ft. ceiling of this old house ... but i was still happy with 9 ft. 6 inches.
In this pic, i wanted to illustrate the height of this tower by including various objects in this room - such as, the 10 ft. high wall (ceiling), the tall lamp, the door, and moon-chair. I would've preferred for none of that messy background to be seen ... but i didn't have any way to hide the gas-heater, the fluke (chimney pipe), and fireplace mantle anyways (lol).
As it turned out, i didn't have much choice anyways - in regards to where i had to stand this tower up at. This spot behind the heater was the ONLY level and solid (non-vibrating) bit of floor that wasn't covered by carpet. And as thin and frail as this tower is, it absolutely needed a firm and solid foundation from which to stand upon.
Here's a close-up of the lower-half of the mid-section ... at it's core is technic bricks and pins (of various lengths), and re-enforcing them is a layer of 2x3 bricks on both sides.
As we go up, you can finally see some technic bricks emerge (thin yellow brick). ... At this point, i had run out of 2x3 bricks (lol). Well, i actually have more, but they're in use atm - contained within other projects.... And at the top end of a yellow technic brick is the antenna mount !
Finally, we have the antenna ... Ain't it a Beauty ! (lol) ... when i was making it, i had taken great care to select brand new axles and connectors - in order to obtain maximum stiffness and tight fits, so that this last segment of my tower would stand straight and true. (still editing) ...
In these next 3 pictures, a yardstick it held-up beside the tower at 3 foot intervals ... here's the base of my tower, composed of 2 sections ... and each section is supported by 5 columns of 2x2 blocks ! ... And at the very top of the base support is "the hollow blue cube" - which firmly holds the second segment of this tower.
oh ! ... hey there Patrick ... thx for the re-invitation (lol) ... i'm glad you found me, because i couldn't remember your name - and i couldn't view it at the contest link, because i was blocked ... Anyways, i really don't know for sure what had happened, but all is well now as far as i'm concerned ... and please don't eliminate Yoda (Luke) if you were thinking about it ... after all, he might've not had nothing to do with what happened ... and like you said, it could've been a "fluke".

I am so glad I saw this. It was complete luck I found this. I think master yoda knocked you out to avoid competition. I kicked him out from being an admin. If he ever does anything like this again I'll kick him out for good. I'm sorry about all the trouble and you are in the lead right now. Please add your moc to the group creations (I reinvited you). Keep building! Also, this moc is amazing!
hey Master Luke (or Master Yoda) ... how do u have 2 diff names show up with 1 account ? ... anyways, that's not the main reason i'm chatting with you here ... the more important question i wanted to ask is ... what happened to my invitation to THE TALLEST TOWER contest, why is it suddenly a "private" group ?, and why am i suddenly blocked from the link ? ... i've heard of "eliminating" competition before in a fun and fair way, but not like that ... (geeze) ... at least that's what i feel like has happened ... but if that's not the case, let me know ... Thx http://www.mocpages.com/group.php/225
