About this creation
Itís been a while since Iíve built just a plain old propeller driven airplane without all the computers or weapons and it was nice to get back to the basics.
Actually I use ďbasicsĒ lightly. In reality it took me all day to build this because I essentially had to rediscover how to build a prop driven plane again (when I was little I built them all the time).
Visually this is one of the smoother more aesthetically pleasing things Iíve built because there are few greebles; itís mostly just a smooth aircraft design.
Despite the fact that I had propeller parts I wanted to build one from scratch so it would look a bit more realistic. I spent about an hour trying different ideas until I settled onto the current one. It has some detail but not so much as to look out of place with the rest of the airplane.
Here you can see some engine detail (there is no actual engine under the hood, Iíll save that for a later build).
Despite its size I almost ran out of studless pieces (I donít have very many to begin with) so I had to mess around with how to lay out all the pieces to cover the most area, I really didnít want to use grill pieces on this, they would have killed the smooth look.
The cockpit was probably the easiest part to make, not much here except a seat, stick and control panel.
Iím pretty proud that for the first time Iíve built is retractable landing WHEELS, not feet or legs like on everything else.
The wheels canít be covered up, but I like them anyway.
