Spider Tank
Quadraped mech inspired by walking tanks in Ghost in the Shell anime and manga
About this creation
This MOC represents a number of firsts for me--first blay MOC, first multi-ped mech, first use of the click rotating hinges (these are from the Titan XP set). Major inspiration is from Mladen Pejic, who's famous for his Mobile Weapons Platforms.

I wanted to do a Spider Tank with wheels in the feet after watching Ghost in the Shell--Stand Alone Complex.

My wife says it looks more like a terrier than a spider. Too cute, I guess.

One reviewer described the paint scheme as "I dipped my ass in a can of paint".

One minifig pilot fits under the solid canopy.

   Spider butt!

I made two different versions of the missile boxes. The smaller ones work better for setting poses because they're lighter.

I think the bigger missile boxes look more aggressive.

The wheels don't actually turn freely, they're just for show.

The nose cannon has a decent aiming range. An earlier version looked really lame and didn't even move side-to-side.

   Tippy-toes.

   Freeway mode.

Slow and low, that is the tempo.

"Step out of the mech please, sir"

"Okay, now close your eyes, stand on three feet and touch your nose with your finger."

The "hip" joints have three axes of rotation. The knee joints have two.

   Gratuitous foot close-up.

He left the keys in with the canopy open, so now it's making that annoying "ding-ding" noise.

This is great! It is some kind of a Kawasaki Ninja-like comparison under the "legged" tanks.

Definate ghost-in-the-shell influence going on there, Tachikoma's big brother anyone? I absolutely love this design, for something so big and bulky it has got quite a lot of flexibility and poses quite well. The heavy 'blast sceen' type cockpit looks sleek and menacing and there looks ample space for the pilot. I really don't like the overall effect of the colours though, it seperates the robot into sections rather than uniting it. Perhaps some light grey greebles over all the body might help to help bring together the seperate areas? Keep up the great work! Oh, and definately the BIGGER missile rack!

Very nice Think Tank. I particularly like the wheels, whether or not they actually turn. The angle of the missile rack is pretty menacing, too. You've really put the new click/ball hinges to good use!

Awsome!!! I think it looks like a small dark precursor from Jak 3, y'know those ones that you shoot and they split into 2 small ones. If you haven't plaed Jak 3 than that's your loss
