About this creation
“Fire up your Lancers, Delta.”
The Lancer Assault Rifle is an assault rifle currently in use with the Coalition of Ordered Governments’ armed forces. One of the most popular rifle designs on Sera, its seen extensive use in every armed conflict since the Pendulum Wars, and currently serves as the standard-issue battle rifle of the COG’s Gear soldiers.
After building most of the weapons from the HALO games, I decided to broaden my horizon and try a gun from my second favorite game; Gears of War. I built the Lancer Assault Rifle in around three hours (straight) as an entry to the GUN SMITHS contest I started. If you feel my gun is worthy as a winner, then PLEASE LEAVE A REVIEW.
Due to the amount of SNOT technique used in the MOC, covering all the studs was imposable, but i did cover some of them. I think it turned out ok…
From end-to-end the gun is around 2 ½-3ft feet long.
Shaping the chainsaw and finding a piece that could create consistent teeth was probably the hardest part.
The handle/trigger/clip/added detail. While playing in-game the lighted strip above the handle changes from blue to red depending on weather the player is COG of Locust.
The barrels and front sight, aswell as he front of the chainsaw bayonet. I’m very happy with the pieces I used as teeth, because they allowed me to make a hardly noticeable transition from bottom to side to top.
The handhold. Although slightly small, my lancer was based primalrily off the GOW 2 lancer, which features one of similar size.
The first trigger I’ve ever made that actually resembles a trigger…sad
The Handle was also rather tricky to shape, it incorperates both SNOT and regular building styles.
Although not entirely accurate, the clip and clip-guard came out ok, but the curvy shape of the guard was rather hard to mimic.
The clip is removable
Although completely random, I put four alternating slanted pieces on the top of the clip and bottom of the gun. Besides keeping the user from putting the clip in backwards, these pieces serve no real function.
Just an action shot I threw together...
A final first-person shot of the user looking down the iron sights, although not my best, this has been one of my favorite builds so far.
AS MENTIONED BEFORE, THIS IS MY "FANTASY GUN" ENTRY FOR THE GUN SMITHS CONTEST, PLEASE LEAVE A REVIEW!
Absolutely Smashing! Looks almost like the real thing! I have only played the game maybe once, but I am getting GOW3 when it comes out later this year. I cannot feel it with my hands right now but I saw a life-size replica at my local comic book store and by the looks of it they are almost the same size.
I really like it. It's very accurate with minor shape and size differences from some images I looked at. You've inspired me to build a functioning chainsaw bayonet. I think your chainsaw teeth and fixed chain should be 1-stud wide. I'm not totally sure, but real chainsaws have thin chains.
