Herenbosch
The Crusader fort at Herenbosch is visited by a strange messenger bringing unwelcome news.
About this creation

Front view of the fort, showing the hardpoints that were added to counter new siege strategies using cannons.

The spearhead shape of the hardpoints makes it hard for attackers to get a perpendicular shot on the walls with cannons, while allowing the defenders to have interlocking fields of fire.

Eventually the Crusaders garrisoning this castle hope to make a complete star-shape all around the castle to protect them from gunfire.

The back side of the castle, being raised on cliffs is to be upgraded last, solid rock is as good a defense as any.

The great hall is built on the highest part of the rocks.

A view of some of the buildings within the castle's walls.

A witch and a wizard decide to settle their differences with a challenging game of rock-paper-scissors. Well, their own version of it.

Some elaborately decorated windows in the thick solid stone wall of one of the buildings in the fort.

There's still a trebuchet on one of the hardpoints of the old wall, which has much smaller crenelations more suitable to position archers behind than cannons, like the new crenelations on the outer wall. This is the old part of the castle.

Some of the smaller civilian buildings.

The old chapel sticking out of a part of the great hall.

Front view of the chapel, also showing the statue in front of it.

Here's a good view of the wing plates to make the right angle for the walls without creating gaps in the wallwalks. This technique is used all over the castle with different sized wing plates for different angles.
It's all connected with hinge plates.

Top view of the new outer courtyard created between the new outer walls and the old inner walls.

Top view looking down on the inner courtyard (tiled) and the outer courtyard (grass).

Top view of the whole thing, showing the star shape of the front part of the castle.

The messenger and his two companions that are visiting the castle to bring their Emperor's terms: We will take this castle peacefully or by force.

Thanks for the great comments everyone :)
Quoting Halfblind Jacobyte I first noticed your creations years ago on brickshelf. I did not know that you post at MOCpages also. This is a prime example of why I really like your castle creations. I believe I have seen a lot more of your castles that are not posted here. I have created a Lego World in my head called Legostein that is filled with medieval villages, castles and dragons, where everything is made of Lego's but looks really amazing. Unfortunately I am better at making space ships and not castles. But that's where your great creations come in, only to fill that gap. Great creations and I hope to see more here soon.
Thanks! Yes I didn't upload everything on MOCpages, I haven't been that active here lately.

Quoting mathijs teunissen He man, Ik ben ook nederlands!
Groeten, Sebastiaan

Wow, this is great. Check out my MOCs. Oh wait, did someone say that already? Bummer!!!... Enough with the sarcasm (for now); all I can really say is that this is an absolutely wonderful creation. I LOVE the architecture of the fortress, your star design is really a unique touch... Your MOCs always have something extra special about them, keep it up!!!

Boy, you get a nice place and some nogoodnic has to come by and try to move on it. What a world. Nice place. When I was a boy we lived in Churchill and the old fort there used those hardpoints. My mother had an ashtray in it's original shape. I wonder what ever happened to that. Thanks for the inspiration. see ya. garth
