My first mech, a light anti-personnel mech, optimised for urban environments.
About this creation
Hi, and welcome to my very first mech! Primary weapon is the 50. cal 4 barrel chaingun. Secondary weapons are the rocket pod on the left shoulder mount, and the rack of missiles on the right. Lastly, there are two 30. cal machineguns on the nose.
I was debating whether to have this picture as the main photo, but in the end, decided on the current one, as I decided it was more attention grabbing. In this pic and the one below it, you can see the base I made for it (and I love bases! :)). As you can see, the setting is urban, industrial etc. My favourite part is the vent/chimney thing (whatever you call them) on the middle left. You 'should' also be able to see some pipes recessed into the base, but they aren't visible due to the camera angle. Oh well, it's a nice hidden detail anyway...
Here's the back view. The pilot enters the mech where the grating is. I realise it isn't very protected, but everything has some weakness. Due to the small size of the mech however, it is agile enough to evade most sneak attacks.
You might be wondering why it has the name Taurus. This is simply because, looking upon it's shape reminds me of a minotaur, and the feet particularly look like hooves.
The top view...
Here we have a view of the cockpit. (The top of the mech has been conveniently removed for photographic purposes, it's not designed to come off) It can comfortably fit one person. You might notice it has no windows. This is because the cockpit utilises virtual vision, integrated into the headset. The square box shaped thing at the front of the mech houses the radar, IR sensors, and sonar. These three things combine to give the pilot unprecedented awareness of the surrounding environment. The lack of windows also gives extra protection.
Here you can see the range of motion the legs have. I must admit I found it rather hard to do the legs, being the first time I've tried anything like this. Each leg has 4 degress of freedom. The hinges are sufficiently strong to hold it up, although I don't think they would work so well for a larger mech. Hmmm...
So there you are, my first ever attempt at any kind of mech! It's been a challenge, but I think it turned out well. If any of you have helpful comments etc, on how to improve future mechs, I'd love to hear them. Hope you enjoyed it!

Very nice work! Mechs are darn hard to make work right. My first three are more like models and don't move much. I am just now trying to make an fully apposable one that won't break. |

This Mech is eerily similar to my own, with twin rocket pods and a gatling gun on the underside. It just shows we obviously have good taste! |
