2008-1223 - Microscale LSS-0423 Ember Rayne
A 1/8 sized microscale mock up of the Ember Rayne.
About this creation
This is a one eighth scale mock up (1 stud equals about eight studs) of the LSS Ember Rayne. The actual ship will be minifigure scale, but I thought it would be a good idea to get a feel for the overall shape and configuration of the ship by creating it in a smaller scale.

This image shows more of the shape of the Ember Rayne.

From the side, one can get a good idea of the deck structure of the ship. The top deck, deck 1, contains the main bridge and the security section. Deck 2 has the externally docked shuttles and the administrative section. Deck 3 Has an external landing pad, main engineering, and the lounge/galley area. Deck 4 is the largest deck, and has the crew quarters, medical bay, gym, torpedo tube, main sensor array, internal droid/robot bays, and the fighter chutes. Deck 5 has the cargo bays, vehicle bay, ship's armory, a drop ship, and the science facility. Finally, the wings/nacelles contain the engines and engine rooms, horticulture areas, main airlocks, and small external drone/robot bays.

Shown from the front, the spacing to the wings/nacelles is seen more clearly. Also, you can see most of the defense turrets pretty clearly in this picture.

In nearly the dead center of this image you can see the drop ship docked on the underside of the ship. You can also see some detail of the horticulture section as well as the landing gear. The underside of the full size ship should have a bit more detail than this microscale version.

A transformable starfighter, which reconfigures into a battle mech, has been assigned to the Ember Rayne to augment its standard compliment of eight mini-fighters. It typically lands here, on the external landing pad. You can also barely make out the cylindrical shuttles docked at thier dedicated airlocks above the landing pad. Finally, at the far side of the image, you can see the engines. The finished ship will have 3 engines on each side, but the microscale model has only two per side because the next smallest cylinder piece looked too small on the ship.

The Ember Rayne isn't meant particularly to fit into a specific universe. Rather it contains whatever I wanted to include from whatever source I felt like throwing in. It has a Star Trek style transporter and bridge layout, but also has a large compliment of droids and robots, like something from Star Wars. If every science fiction and space fantasy universe somehow combined into a cohesive whole, they might have ships like the Ember Rayne.

Wow ... that's cool ! ... from the description of it, the LSS Ember Rayne sounds like a very well thought-out starship ... i wasn't sure of one thing though ... is this a Star Wars ship ? ... or is it a Star Trek ship ?
