This is a modified section of a Jawa Sandcrawler's treaded-wheel assembly (set 10144) ... i had started to build the kit, but only got as far as putting one of the treaded-wheel base assemblies together ... and that's when i got "side-tracked" and was inspired to make a "Jawa Tank"... I know the turret is alittle bulky, but hey - bear in mind that Jawa's built it (Lol).
About this creation
The Jawa Tank, or the "JT" ... as it's often called by moisture farmers of Tatooine ... was a metallic monstrosity in it's early years, and was built for defence against Tusken Raiders and Krayt Dragons. The "JT" had originally started out as a tracked-wheel assembly, that was salvaged from a derelict Sandcrawler. Over time, the gangly-looking behemouth later evolved into what you see now.
The "JT" is armed with a primitive kinetic cannon, and is mounted on a 360% revolving turret ... and on top of the turret is a motion sensor and sound detector system, which allows the Jawa inside to hear anything outside of the tank either up close, or at an impressively long range - which is great for detecting Sand People and Krayt Dragons.
On the front of this Jawa Tank is a rusted piece of durasteel, used for digging out wreckage they find buried in the sands of Tatooine ... but "not all of it is rust", as most people who's traded with this clan of Jawa's will jealously point out ... "clearly, those greedy little Jawa's have been hording all the good stuff !"
On each side of the rusty turret is a round durasteel shield-plate ... they protect a round-shaped magazine cylinder - which holds the tanks ammo, and feeds the cannon as it fires.

Very nice, and thanks for the laugh! This tank is well built. It looks sturdy, tough, and war-like. One thing that I really like is the plow on the front. Again, very war-like. I don't see too many LEGO® tanks with that appropriate plow. My only complaint is that the main turret is a little far back. Other than that, Great work! -Dax |

This is great Darren! I like it. Kind of unrealistic 'cos the Jawa's never did have much militant stuff, but I likes it anyways! Like the details, the colour-scheme, and the High-res photos help too. Personally, the back mud-flap design is my favourite detail. Curious (but lovely) cockpit shape, and I like the bulldozer bit. Cheers! |

The turret IS bulky, but it really gives it a unique look, that and the brown color. If the turret was a more flat design, it would look a lot more like a normal tank (think german panzer, american tanks, british, etc.) Poor sandcrawler though, never got to see the light of the day. |

Well, my Jawa minifigs haven't exactly formed themselves into a military unit (yet) ... but they did built the "JT" mostly for "improved" defences against Tusken Raiders ... and for digging out wreckages they find buried in the sands of Tatooine. |
