Alien Recon
A small Zorkonian recon craft.
About this creation

I made this little recon craft mostly to try out the windscreen from Lego set #7256 featuring Anakin's Jedi Starfighter. Yes, I finally broke down and bought another set with the new grays. I Brasso'd off the printing on the windscreen. The craft started off as a single-seater but it looked to roomy that way. So I made it a two-seater and crammed in the minifigs as best as I could.

This series of pics came out pretty grainy because I was in a rush to just get it done. But I like the shape of this craft and I may come back with some more space scenes.

In my Lego universe, this craft belongs to the Zorkonian race. The Zorkons are the typical human abducting, anal probing, cow mutilating aliens you see on X-Files and South Park. My second Captain Ahnee story featured a Zorkon named Zog who was a trusty member of the Dipwad crew.

The ship is totally SNOT. I tried to keep the shape simple and details minimal.

In hindsight, I think the engine configuration is not exotic or high tech enough. Looks a bit too conventional, like an earthling ship.

I think I like this view best. Dunno why.

A pair of Zorkons are needed to pilot the craft and operate the sensors.

Not only are your builds incredible but it's the way you present them. Your photo editing skills make half of the coolness factor for me. The main shot is seriously cool.

Very clever use of this cumbersome type windscreen. Errors in excess of, a very original style.

For being a simple, low detail fighter- recon thing, it's very good.

Oh no! Has Zog's supreme overlord/loan shark/wife come looking for him? When I saw this on Brickshelf, I thought "Where are the weapons?", but then I saw that weapons would interfere with the silky smooth SNOT. The addition of a Zorkonian craft should make for an interesting story.

Fantastic work as usual, Dan! I love the sleekness of it, the use of the canopy thing in front, and especially how the use of the same type of slope bricks in different positions makes a wonderful effect. Thanks for sharing!
