This Peterbilt I like to present here on MOC pages is in fact a bit older. The rig is from 2007. I have presented it a while ago but then something went wrong with my page so I’ll try again. This is the smaller sister of ‘Low Lug’ the big Peterbilt 1:13 scale lowrider that you can also find on my page here at MOC. This one is more or less inspired by the truck of Rollin Transpor , on of the first trucks that was painted in the much copied two tone custom look, and considered a real trendsetter in the customising scene. I recreated it in 1:17 scale.
I have build the rig and the reefer (the original trailer isn't a reefer, but the style matches)in studless detailed setup to give it a retro atmosphere, like the old Model Team Lego sets. The chassis with the Black Cat(set 5571) wheels is as low as I could get it, maintaining all functionality, and engine, interior, etc, is all as detailed as icould achieve it with the small bricks. At this stage I didn’t use the flexible axles to curve the exhausts but they look ok here, but would have been better with the proper alignment as I did it on the ‘Low Lug’ version.
All in all I like this model a lot. The reefer is detailed with the cooling unit and the rear axle setup is like in the original. Not everybody would like the fenders, but it is what they drive nowadays, and I like them a bit overdone.
I often use bricklink to get some new parts. I have a lot of Lego, to buy it all at once, would be quitte expensive i guess.
The old Model Team wheels are sold on the net nowaday's for around 25 dollar each.
u have the best trucks:D
u gave me the inspiration to build me my own truck:D
u can see my truck on my page and please give me some tips or just neat ideas to add my truck :D
DDDDDD:……… OH MY GOD. That's freakin' amazing. PLEASE include close-up interior pics for the trailer and the front, and does it turn particularly well?? Anytime now I will lose consciousness and fain—ugh. :)
Very nice! I like this one better than the lowrider, it has more of an "every day's touch" to it - it´s heavy duty and made for rough stuff:) Everything is awesome about this model. Keep on building, your stuff rocks ! Steffen
I think the other one you mean is mine too ;-) Have been busy lately, but it is not a copy, although these trucks look alike off course. The scale differs a lot.
