T-16 Skyhopper
Built before the official T-16 LEGO set was released, this was done straight from memory and kept assembled for many years.
About this creation
I have a habit of trying to build ships that haven't been built yet. When Star Wars and LEGO teamed up originally in 1998 and started putting out sets in 1999, I was really hopeful (yet pragmatically skeptical) that some older, non-canon ships would be officially released. Having played a lot of X-Wing/TIE Fighter, I knew what ships I'd like to build.

One of them, seen briefly in ANH, was a T-16 Skyhopper. Luke would apparently bulls eye womp rats in it (thought I always found it hard to believe his poor moisture farming family would own a T-16) and you can even hear him piloting a ship that was probably a Skyhopper in the Star Wars Radio Drama. In it he and his pall Wendi(sp) went up against Fixer in the Beggar's Canyon Run and threaded the Stone Needle to win. He banged up his ship and became known as a fairly reckless pilot.

This MOC wasn't more than a couple minutes in building. I was tired of having two of Anakin's pod racers lying around so I turned them and all the extra bits from the smaller sets into spares and built this guy. It's not accurate, it's very simple, but it's my first official adult MOC. (Seeing as when I was a kid, all we built were starships.)

I haven't got the official T-16 yet, but I'd like to.
