Yeah, he's probably the worst communist president we've ever had. I mean, he's reduced the number of govt workers, regained all the private jobs the Capitalist Bush lost. And he's gotten rid of all the iPad/iPhone lines. Without lines, where am I suppose to know where to get my government-issued iPad/iPhone?
Okay seriously people....MOCpages is a place where we collaborate new lego techniques and ideas, not political ones! Stop bickering for goodness sake and appreciate the hard work that this poor guy had to go through, just to receive spam and biased criticism! Give him a break!
great piece! [peace] very recognizable, congrats for your motd! as for the debate; I m French Canadian, and most of all, a trekkie, so, 1 world, 1 country, let s abolish money, and poverty, earth is a very small place in our grand universe, we re all brothers in existence! and our lifetime is short.
Hope you weren't talking to me down there. I wasn't like "BOO! He's gonna be awful in office!"
I was making a comment on the mosaic mostly...I know I'm young (13), so the whole adult world does'nt respect my opinions (at least no adults that I know.) and I can understand that. Probably just white noise to you. I'm not looking to pick a fight, so don't assume that. I hope you people don't flame me after this, so refrain. And I don't support Obama. I think he will ruin the country. But for God's sake I hope I'm wrong. I really hope all the "change" will come, because our country does need it. Especially with the economy. So don't go all "your thirteen, let's point out all the flaws in your opinions, poke holes in your logic, and refrence things you haven't learned about." This site is for legos. Let's cut the political stuff and start making it that way, people.
Son: when you talk about tax cuts to the 50% through payroll taxes, that doesn't apply to almost 10% of America's population [because of no job-funded income]. Also, Obama didn't specifically mention pay-roll taxes in general, he only talked about taxes in general, but I guess we'll see fairly soon what he meant. That is, if he actually comes through with his promises, unlike Clinton. You also mentioned Bush. I agree he's not the smartest or wisest, but the everyday people need to understand how big-government works - getting your money back isn't immediate, and it's not the governments job to balance your paycheck and make sure everybody knows when their checks are going to come. Also, I do believe that gas rose to over $3.00 a gallon here in American, and it was sometime in the later parts of 2007/2008. After that, the internation sellers brought their prices down, but then it spiked again, even higher. Since the first spike happened on its own, I'm not sure you can assume the second one was caused by a future stimulus package. That said, what brought it back down to about $1.50 a gallon was the free-market conserving fuel, therefore making the supply go up. And I do agree that taxing the people [in the form of a stimulus package] is not how to get an economy back on track, it should come naturally through the free market.

IT COULD BE DISASTROUS!!!
I am so very sorry to all of you that I have offended or hurt. I hope you all can forgive me I really truly didn't mean those rude things and hope that you can all forgive me. I will no longer engage in political conversation. I will just enjoy the greatness of mocpags. I will delete my trashy comments and my political mocs. I am sorry to all of you.

Son: you're righti in the sense that the bank loans weren'tthe only part of the problem. That said, I don't think Obama could do any better than McCain. He says he's going to cut taxes to 95% of America's population, when only around 50% of those 95% pay taxes. This would only be possible if he gives out wellfare to that [around] 50%. That displays no knowledge of economics.
Quoting you: "I wonder why it is that secular nations are more prosperous than theocratic ones? Compare England post reformation with Spain, France, and Italy. As a matter of history, putting your faith in people seems to pay off better it seems. Ignore that General Gober, I forgot you're only 12 and haven't studied the reformation."
You're wrong, America is great, in fact it is the greatest nation on Earth. America was built on Christian morals and standards. Our very motto is "In God We Trust." When America ceases to uphold these standards, it will cease to be great. Also, perhaps the reason you've never seen God, is because you've never looked. (Don't expect another reply from me, I'm already busy with another time consuming [yet very well worth it] argument elsewhere.) I'm praying for you.
The value of a home was no longer valued by efficient markets who took into account the neighborhood, the schools in the area, the proximity to parks and jobs. No. Home values in Nevada were now being determined by institutional investors in France, India, China, and all around the world. A home can have a thousand owners. Our govt should have stepped in and stopped the practice of collateralizing debt and bundling mortgages into securities. In the end, it was our human failure. As someone who enjoys economics, I can appreciate Enron. That was caused by criminality. But the current recession is caused by human greed. When you allow people to operate unregulated, you get this. This was a failure of government and people. If McCain and his economic advisor Phil Gramm are in office today, I dare not wish to find out what they might suggest the solution to be. John McCain doesn't understand economics. He said so himself.

Jens: I really don't feel up to a debate right now, but I will say this: the economic crisis over here was caused by the government forcing banks to loan to countless millions who could never pay it back.
Actually, the economics crisis has several causes that all converged to create a perfect storm. It all began with the .com bust and people divested their .com investments and needed a place to store their money. All the while, China was growing and loaning us money, in essence, keeping interest rates down. This allowed many people to afford homes. This created a housing boom. Investors caught wind and looking for a place to store their money, invested it all in houses. Financial institutions, realizing a market was developing, were looking for mechanisms to cram even more people into homes so they can profit even more from the housing boom. This created new finance instruments such as Collateralized Debt Obligations, Mortgage-Backed Securities, and other bundled investments that were sold to investors all around the world.
[quote] I really don't feel up to a debate right now, but I will say this: the economic crisis over here was caused by the government forcing banks to loan to countless millions who could never pay it back[/quote]
Will, no need to debate on that. I already knew this; it's a GLOBAL economic crises and Germany is in big trouble ,too! With your other points: 101% agreed!
Son: thanks for setting the little kiddies straight, they need it. Being a Christian though, you're absolutely right. Jens: I really don't feel up to a debate right now, but I will say this: the economic crisis over here was caused by the government forcing banks to loan to countless millions who could never pay it back. Brer: of all the uninformed kiddies to post on this page, you're by far the worst. And you may want to consider working on your spelling and grammar.
First of all: great job, Son! I'm not from the U.S., I'm from Germany...yes, it's a small country in Old Europe next to China ;-) No, it isn't! It's just a country in Europe, China is far, far away and a guy named Hitler is longtime dead. Guess what, we have a girl (OK, a bad looking woman) in our country's highest office now! Most of you guys over the Pond decided not for a woman but for a man who has partly African roots, a Moslem second name and a lot of charisma. Your country needed a change! Old ideas of a - now former - President needed a BIG change. Desert-camouflaged young people in foreign countrys (and a war about oil that couldn't be won)need a change. Financal markets and business need a change. Your education system needs a change - maybe one day in future your kids can spell "nuclear weapons" right! You see, to regain the reputation of the United States in the world, your politics had to change. I hope Obama will do this change...hey, can he make the whole scenario even worse? For God's sake: NO! The US are proud on their democracy and want to share it with the whole world. They brought democracy to Germany after the Nazi-regime. And now some of you guys make jokes about your elected President's second name? Wow, is that your conception of democracy? Judging people about their names? Funny - er, no...it's ridiculous!
However, the people in Germany and Europe (and it seems to me you may include 99% of the rest of the world and me too) pin their big hopes on YOUR new man in the highest office. We count on him and we also count on you to get rid of a world that lies shattered due to the "politics" of a Texas-Ranger. God bless Obama! Peace, Jens
Clancy: being a Conservative, I'd love to diss on his middle name, but it's wrong. That said, I do have other areas in which I have problems with him. To all of you spiteful right-wingers: Barack was named "Barack Hussein Obama" by his parents, it wasn't like he changed it to that. C'mon guys, take your arguements elsewhere.
NOBAMA!!! Why did this get MOC of the day? Just because he becomes president? Please... And Miggy, NObama is a pun, in case you didnt realize, so no its not bad spelling. Also, jealous of what? That Obama has horrible morals and standards and makes a ton of hollow promises?
If a man with the MIDDLE name "Hussein" shouldn't be president, then maybe it would be prudent of us as nation that we should never allow a person with the FIRST name of Megan, Hillary, or Judy to be President? From what I was taught, to be President of the US, you must be a natural born citizen, be 35 years of age, and be elected by a college of electors. It is the last qualification that is most difficult. So while some of you may want to squabble about his middle name, I'm glad there are some of my fellow citizens who have made a name for themselves, so much so that they may overcome the prejudices of their own fellow citizens to be elected POTUS.
Great MOC for a Great man. And what do some of you guys have against him? Barack HUSSEIN Obama? Who cares? I mean, c'mon, you're going to judge the man based on his freaking MIDDLE NAME? That's desperation at its worst. You can't find anything ACTUALLY wrong with the man, so you make fun of his name? Doesn't get much more childish than that.
Shawn: (on Dec. 4): please, please go somewhere else to voice your political views, as no one cares what you think. Miggy: [Dec. 8]: You go with Shawn and have your little feud somewhere else, and stop making provocative comments about Conservatives. Brennan: [Jan 20]: we don't care about how you think brainwashed libs voted Obama into office, just get over it, kid. Son: fantastic MOC, this looks amazingly like the poster. Great job.
I've been thinking of doing my first mosaic, but have feared the high cost of ordering so many colors of bricks. Doing a graphic like his well known campaign poster is a great idea.
Now off I go to search for a graphic instead of a photo.
PS: All politicians are crooks, especially the Republicans and Democrats, the Libertarians and Constitutionalists not so much...
To Shawn: No offense, but if you spell like that, you can't talk properly and if you can't talk properly, you couldn't beat anyone in a debate! C'mon, all you McCain supporters are just jealous that your canditate was rubbish and Obama is just great! Just so you know, that comment was not directed at all McCain supporters(just a lot). And another thing Shawn, you rated this 3/5! You haven't even posted any MOCs yet and you think you have the right to rate a masterpeice like this 3/5? Just because you are jealous of this very talented lego artist, critiscism won't make you a better builder.
Thankyou for not spamming, I was all ready to take it. I hope I didn't anger you with my Emperor Carter and Darth Obama. This may seem strange but I belive I need some allies would you like to make up and agree to disagree? (err did that make any sense?)
