The Nebulon Ranger is a famous Crescent-X9 flown by Ulic Qel-Droma and his brother Cay along with other Jedi. It appeared in the Dark Horse Comic "Tales of the Jedi."

The Nebulon Ranger was a famous Crescent-X9 used to transport the three Jedi Knights (including Ulic Qel-Droma) to Onderon, a world torn by civil war. There, the vehicle was used during a mission to rescued the kidnapped Onderon princess Galia from the Beast Riders. Unfortunately, the vehicle was shot down by a Beast Rider emplacement and its occupants were forced to continue on foot.

The Crescent was armed with four laser cannons, two concussion missile launchers each with a magazine of eight missiles, and eight shield generators.

Six Alderaan Motors power generators and engines were mounted in two distinctive boxes of three and were set at 90 degrees to each other on a starframe around which the rest of the courier was constructed. This right-angled design gave the courier increased agility without adding the weight of increased maneuvering jets.

The large wing on the cockpit's right side was the Crescent's most notable feature. At a 45-degree angle to the cockpit, the heavily-armored wings had retractable fins for better control in atmospheric flights. The airlock and sensor array pylon were also visible on the wing. The ship also featured an access corridor in the neck that held a boarding ramp and escape hatch, which led to the living area. The drop bay at the base of the craft could be used as a cargo bay.

This is my first official MOC. I've clung to about 90 space/Star Wars sets for almost 20 years and just recently I've brought them out of the garage, cleaned 'em off and sorted them. I'll let this sit for a while since it took a few weeks and I might update the wing a bit. But it's heavy, about 4.5 lbs. It measures 18" long and the wing is 36". It's easily a UCS size model. I couldn't make it large enough for three speeders and a full crew and room for passengers, but I think getting four minifigs in the back and a small swoop is pretty good.

I picked the Nebulon Ranger because "Tales of the Jedi" was one of the few stories in the Star Wars universe I really enjoyed and would have liked to have seen made into live action. This ship represents its wonder to me and I hope I did it justice.
