The vignette finalist entry for E.C. Fed's Clone Wars Vehicle Contest. Enjoy~
About this creation
Sunday, October 26, 6:41 AM: Power Outage. Luckily, with natural light flooding in from the windows, it wasn't all that dark.
Well, I couldn't do anything on computers or TV, so what did I do?
I sat down in the nicely lit play room, and built my finalist vig over the course of the next couple of hours. Technically, it's my first vignette; and without internet, I had nothing really to go by. All I knew was that it had to be a snapshot of something in the climax of action. So, I started by remembering the rules: 30 x 30 studs = maximum length and width. So I got out the most common color of baseplates I had: grey, of course. And a little black, my first goal was to arrange them in a pattern sort of way. Then, an idea: platform. To be honest, I FIRST added the four bottom cylinders, and then by working my way around them, I connected all the top baseplates with 2x4s, 2x6s, 2x8s, etc.
By accident, the scene idea came first, and I started putting clones and droids up before completing the platform's scenery. I owe a big thanks to my Lego® MTT, after it had fallen off my shelf I left it in its mangled, fallen-apart state, but I remembered that it had specific pieces IN BULK. So yeah. Shout-out to the MTT w00t!
Finally, the scene was done.
Well, technically not… I modified it over the course of this week, but yeah…
So I was "done."
Then it was lunch time :P
I took A LOT of pics, more than usual, though most didn't pass the entrance exam!

So here's the lowdown on this vig:
Mygeeto, while it has many floating platforms, does have an actual surface. But the first battles of the Clone Wars there took place on one of them, and it was Rave Allor's 475th legion, commanded by Commander Gavs, that charged into the snow there first.
Losses were sustained on both sides, but the clones were beginning to be pushed back. Desperately, Gavs ordered a retreat. But even still, the gunships they had were far off in the next city, where the real fighting was (falsely) predicted to be. So in a hasty attempt at retreat, Gavs took up his comlink and told the gunships to rendezvous with them at "Platform 327." It was there that they'd fly off, away from the droids.
Oh, if only that were true…
For though they kept the droids from getting too close, they kept coming, and even with a few seconds for what little clones were left to rest, the droids came marching up the hallway connecting Platform 327 to the main platform. As soon as they got there, chaos broke loose. A droideka seized its chance and miraculously made it at least onto the platform and unfold, blasters ready. But it might not last long. Also, a clone has gone down for the count, and one is about to fall off, blaster in his face. The fighting is fierce, but will they survive? That's the beauty of a vignette.
Three of the brave clones left. Gavs is the one in red colored armor, behind the crate.

Here come the droids! But wait—there's a surprise waiting for them.

A literal translation of "being caught in the crossfire." The clone with a Z-6 rotary cannon is firing at the droideka (it hasn't activated its shield yet!!) while a B1 battle droid fires upon the helpless clone about to fall off the platform all together. Crossfire refers to the fact that the lasers almost cross. yep :~)

A bunch of broken up droids, and a dead clone. Yuck…

There's the Lego reason for why he's like that, but for the vig his foot isn't supposed to be like that.
A close-up of the clone with the Z-6 rotary cannon. I modified it off of Bill Bill's version.
TOWER. Easy build. Mostly made up of Y-Wing engine parts :~)
There's the hallway, close-up. I added the jagged 1x4s right before taking pics, I just had to.
A more horizontal pic of the general scene. This could possibly be what a clone in an Laat is seeing through his electrobinoculars.
Here's the bottom. Remember, it's a floating platform.
PICS OF UNALTERED SCENES END HERE
Aw, jeez. I turn my back for one second and my cat Momo takes interest in my vig.
Well… sort of.
Empty scene, no characters, no nothing except the background.
Ok ok ok, serious time: The platform itself (minus the hinged hallway) is 24 x 24 studs. Because the hallway is hinged and goes into the platform, the vig is still within the requirement of 30 x 30. :)
Here are the brave clones who participated in this vig.
And the droids… well, in some cases, what's left of them.
THE FINAL PIC: The vignette without the flash :P
This concludes my Clone Wars finalist presentation. Thank you.
Ooh ooh, wait: This is my finalist contest entry for Elite Commander Fed's Clone Wars Vehicle Contest.

Sure. Podracers it is. Can I use the aliens that came from those old Mars Mission Sets for my pilot? Oh, and 1 more thing-does it have to be a certain size? |

Agreed. We will wait until next weekend to start. I know what the expanded universe is, but know little about it. perhaps we could do something else? Sorry. |

Well, Fed is the judge for all moc-offs. And yes, if you lose, then we swap positions. However, if I lose, nothing happens, we just stay in our current positions. Now that you have a basic feeling for the rules (i'm assuming you kind of understand, if not, tell me what I need to be more clear on), we should think of the theme for the moc-off and the deadline. I think Fed might decide that though. I'm not really sure :) |

hey Willis, I challenge you to a moc-off for position of Royal Elite. Do you accept? And, if you do, what should the theme be?
P.S great job on this. looks really good. Too bad you didn't win though. |

If you haven't read much of the descriptions, I advise you to. I worked long and hard to get those paragraphs of words up without timing out on my login, and I don't want them to go to waste :) |

Well, nice to see someone have dead clones in a vig. This is very rare: good, brave, Republic, good guy clones might die to the evil and bad Separatists. That means I like this. |

As with many good builds, this demonstrates its not the pieces you have, but how you use them. |
