About this creation
My newest ship, I worked on the 'Red Beard Runner's red hulls (on which I previously built the Demon)
the proportions aren't very accurate, I guess my Idea was too big for the hulls to carry, you see, using only 2 midsections makes it a relative short ship.
Anyway, it has some good points too,
the cabin worked out nicely, I came in possesion of 12 small windows (see the main picture), I found them on a jumble sale and they served perfect on the stern, one of the nicest cabin details I've ever aplied I must say.
the ship has a better interior compared to my previous ships, In this ship I used all of the available space, like the compartiment in the back which I used for a rudder system (in my previous big ships either the bow, the stern or both had a unused space. The official Hull pieces are nice but they limit the possibilities.
There ship is a staircase in the bow but not the most efficient one, In the colonial times they made the stairs in ships small so they wouldn't take too much space, mine would fit better in a house so you see again, realism isn't the best quality of this ship.
Anyway, it has been built and it took a lot of work so I'm showing it off anyway, feedback is appreciated .

A broadside of 7 cannonballs.

I used a lot of tan bricks on thisone, It's my favourite color to use.

Fire !!!!!

The cabin

The ship has a 'working' (I have to open the cabin to make it work) ruther chain, it's not connected to the steering wheel though, otherwise their would have been a big construction in the cabin and that wouldn't allow me to show of my awesome furniture :P

There are several hatches and removeable plates allowing to view the interior.

In the back you can see the ruther chain. The barrels are filled with rum ( those soldiers need to be motivated :P)

The forecastle has a staircase.

The furniture (when sailing these rough waters you need a comfortable cabin)

So, I hope you like it, let me know what you think of it.

Quoting Louie M Great ship! Can you make a battle between this and the dutchman?
Too late, both ships were demolished years ago. I have two substitutes though. http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/287588 and http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/266323

Quoting luke peterson I'm looking to buy a Prefab hull from Cracklink, but I'm not sure which ones are the one's you use. If youcould give me the "Formal name" or a link, I would be very gratefull.
It doesn't have a specific name but maybe this link helps http://www.bricklink.com/search.asp?pg=42&q=boat+hull&sz=10&searchSort=P

Your ships are wonderful. I do not why, but I like this most. Maybe because of the colours. Nice interior.

Quoting Tom Kruse Very nice ship. Love the details, and the cabin were just awesome. There is one problem with it though, and that is its height. I think that you can easily remove a "row" of bricks from the lower deck, since the lower cannon decks always were tight. It was impossible on all the warships to stand straight there, and it would improve the overall look. But other than that it's just lovely.
you're absolutely right, I didn't think about that when building this ship, I usually make the rooms a bit higher than a figure but that doesn't look very accurate indeed

Quoting Soccer Man How do you plan the design of your ships? Do you just start building from scratch and see where it goes?
yes, actually I do, because of that I fail a lot but ofcourse I don't post my failures, well, I once posted a failure because it was so hard to build

Now this is a ship! Very impressive indeed, great details. Love all the classic windows! I've recently gotten a similar ship hull and I'm thinking about what to do with it... it will be something more mythical than this one, but your creation gives me some clues about how to make an actual ship. I also like that it has an interior that can be seen. Great work!

I always enjoy seeing a good ship come up on MOCpages, and this is certainly a good ship. A little bit more crew woul do it well, though I know how difficult it can be to buy them (I hope you know about BrickLink).

a schooner ? that would be a challenge, the fact that it has more masts makes it already difficult, when I make a ship I'm always strugling with building in the masts because I want an accessible hold and enough place for guns.

As usual.. GREAT ship with tons of details! impressive one even if my favorite is still your F.D... but i don't like the main pic for present THIS one.. i prefer to display the whole ship at the main pic(in my opinion).. any way it's not that matter.. what matters is your ship is just amazing... keep on the good work >>> peace.. Wonderful ship ! I like the image you've choose for the main pic. The interior is great, and the quality of the pic is -as usual with you- very good. Way better than the new pirates sets, it's an excellent work.
