Ferris Wheel
Amusement Ride
About this creation
The Ferris Wheel is one of the most recognizable and longstanding images of the carnival, or fairs of the past 100 years+. It is a wheel with cars that are pinned at the ends of its spokes. Because the cars are hung in such a way to allow them to remain level at whatever position in the wheel, guests are treated to a smooth sailing view of the surrounding area as they travel around the wheel.
This wheel stands at about 7 feet tall. Due to the weight of this much Lego elements, I had to use an aluminum shaft at the hub to support it properly. Unfortunately, the pictures are not very good, as they are more than a few years old, and taken on a crappy camera. The one picture of the clown you see, is the symbol for Conklin Shows, which is one of the worlds largest traveling carnival companies. I built this wheel so that it would fold down into a trailer. The pictures do not show this complete, but you can get an idea for how it gets collapsed for travel.

Thanks for looking!

The trailer is missing a wheel in this shot, so it looks weird.

Amazing! I really like how the red and blue complement the clown in the last picture. I really like that!!
